yes I've got the train from JB to Singapore and it takes an hour!!!
We are talking here about having a night out in KL and have decided the best way is to get the luxury coach.

seems to be the choice means of travel as airport so far out of town you end up quicker by road (dont think its only and hour though)

If you need any tips on good bars etc in KL let me know and i'll send some details

I will be catching the train about 1pm from Bangkok to HH, steerage class, no reservation required, this is on 5th feb.

Just get up to the restaurant car and have some good food and a couple of large Singhas.

I am quite surprised no one has mentioned the head on crash near HH a couple of weeks ago, 3 people unfortunately killed, probably staff. RIP.

Cheers dane, missed that.
The single line operation does look a bit dodgy, when I went to kanchanaburi on the double track section we were side by side with another train for several miles.
The drivers exchange staffs for different sections of track, quite a lot of freight container trains on the HH line as well.

I am not too keen on the 'Special train' diesel railcar, although it does get a move on.
The Thai rail timetable is even less reliable than Air Asia's. :)
