seems its bundled in with some plug ins

http://www.pcrisk.com/removal-guides/69 ... ntv-adware

I recc you consider swapping over your browser to Comodo IceDragon v19 - its a customised version of FireFox with extra added security that prevents such bundled cack deploying. Its a lot more stable than FireFox, more secure, but as it works off the same engine looks and feels the same.

I have just swapped over and am cock a hoop with it - works lovely and smooth and fast as silk.

Will do a full review once I have some more testing time done with it.

Following this thread, I've finally managed to delete a toolbar that I had picked up on Firefox called "incredibar".
I'm very wary of downloading any software from free sites, so I went through this procedure which worked very well, although time consuming.

Mozilla Firefox:
1. Open Mozilla Firefox -> go 'Tools' -> 'Add-ons' -> 'Extensions' and remove IncrediBar* toolbar. Close the window.
2. Launch Mozilla Firefox -> click on the magnifying glass -> 'Manage Search Engines...' -> click on MyStart by Incredibar, Games EN Toolbar API Server, Incredibar Music Toolbar, Incredibar.com Helper Object, Web Assistant and similar -> 'Remove' -> OK to save changes.
3. Go 'Tools' -> 'Options' -> change the homepage under the 'General' tab. Then, in the URL address bar, type about:config and click 'Enter' -> select 'I'll be careful, I promise!' -> type mystart in the 'Search' section. Now you should see the preferences that were changed by IncrediBar toolbar. Right click on every preference and select 'Reset'.

Actually, went I went through stage 3, I reset absolutely everything back to default, not just from 'mystart' which took about 40 minutes but seems to have worked well as everything is back to normal and running much quicker.

Is there an official site that you can get it from Sandman? Those toolbar things are very annoying as I often use a netbook and apart from anything else, they steal too much screen space.

For anything like this I always just put it into google:

'torntv removal' http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en#hl=en ... 66&bih=640

I always find a way within a few minutes as there'll usually be a few methods discussed.

Does anyone know why these kunts go to so much trouble to get their toolbars on your computer?

Do they somehow make money off people then using them or what?

I read on one site that they're prepared to pay free software sites up to $1.50 for every installed toolbar as they harvest search data and browser history that they can then sell on to marketing groups.

^ kunts.

It is surprising the programs that have such crap. Even AVG has an AVG toolbar hidden away in their installation for the not-clued-up.

I googled how to get rid of torntv before I started the thread but the simple instructions didn't work for me. However, that uninstall program did.

No 1 rule... when installing any new software always uncheck the tickboxes that say 'Yes! Install......', 'Yes! I wan't a free scan for...'

These people rely on the fact that most people just click 'next, next, next' through an installation process.

Not only uninstalls the offending program, gets rid of the associated files & registry entries.

Very true Pleng.
Where as you used to have to opt in for these extras, you now need to opt out :?

It isn't just toolbars, search engines & homepages etc etc get thrusted upon the unsuspecting downloader
