Saddam himself claimed to have the weapons (just to intimidate his neighbors) until it was too late to back down. After all, he had used said weapons on his own countrymen in the past so it wasn't that hard to believe him.I actually don't see what all the fuss is about. How do we know Iran is trying to build a nuke - just because western inspectors have said so? The told us Saddam had WMD as well
Uh... let me see... could it be because the leaders of the "other" country in question have publicly stated (more than once) its desire to violently wipe other countries off the face of the earth and nuclear weapons would allow them to follow through on that desire? Why should a handful of countries be allowed to possess such weapons in this day and age, and then kick up hell when others want to follow their example?
Answers welcome, but please think before you reply
I kind of agree with that statement, although I think it should be qualified by adding that those other countries are more likely to be those with certain political/ideological/military ambitions - there are plenty of states who have no desire to go nuclear.Takiap wrote:As long as the super powers have them though, other countries are going to want them as well..........it's just human nature.
I've pointed this out several times to those who keep spreading this 'disinfo'. Maybe they can explain why they persist?wiki wrote:This was distorted by the press of the 'free world'. He said, the occupiers of Jerusalem will be wiped from the pages of history.
This is an important aspect rarely discussed. It's called "dollar imperialism". The U.S. can't afford to allow the rest of the world to move away from the dollar. So it hammers countries like Iraq (and soon Iran) to keep other countries in line.Saddam was invaded because he was selling his oil in Euros, not dollars...
They also seem to have forgotten that wars of aggression are International war crimes, that killing civilians is a war crime, that torture is a violation of the Geneva convention, that targeting civilians is a crime, that using banned munitions is a crime and that everyone who supports these acts is no different to the Nazis.Everyone seems to have forgotten about Iranian scientists being murdered around the globe, now I'm sure it isn't Iran killing them,
Yes, the Iranian Foreign Minister confirmed that Admadinejad was referring to wiping out the Israeli regime. Seeing as the only real way Iran would be able to do that would be with a nuclear missile, I don't think it will help the people much if it was intended for the Knesset only. But the point is that this clearly stated intent, together with their known sponsoring/arming etc of terrorist groups, it has set alarms ringing with the whole world, bar a few like-minded states.wiki wrote:This was distorted by the press of the 'free world'. Can't see how you can reach that conclusion with respect. Saddam sold in Euro's through the UN's oil-for-food program where he had to request permission, and was given permission by the (US-controlled)UN. They could easily have said 'no'. Venezuela had already started selling in currencies other than dollars years before Iraq invasion, even before 9/11, they produce & export more than Iraq, and the U.S. relies on their exports more... so why didn't they create a crisis nearby in Venezuela if they were so concerned?wiki wrote:Saddam was invaded because he was selling his oil in Euros, not dollars, follow the time line of exchange rated before NATO and the other terrorists illegally invaded Iraq.
Do conspiracy theorists really believe that in a country known for executing their gays, it could never kill a few scientists in order to frame their enemies... but do believe the U.S. can kill 3,000+ of their own in order to go to Afghanistan & Iraq for a decade only to comeback with less oil than before they wentwiki wrote:Everyone seems to have forgotten about Iranian scientists being murdered around the globe, now I'm sure it isn't Iran killing them.

Thai police seek new Iranian bomb suspect
Saturday, February 18, 2012
BANGKOK: Police in Thailand said Friday they were hunting for a fifth Iranian suspected in a failed bomb plot in Bangkok that has sent tensions between Israel and Iran soaring.
The tourist magnet has stepped up security following Tuesday’s blasts, the third bomb incident to shake world capitals in less than 24 hours. Tehran has denied Israeli charges it is waging a terror campaign against the Jewish state.
Arrest warrants have been issued for four Iranians, two of whom have been detained and charged over the botched attack, which came to light after an apparently unintended explosion at a Bangkok house on Tuesday. Now police are compiling evidence and witness accounts to seek a warrant for another suspect whose whereabouts are unknown.
