As usual critics have given it a bit of a pasting...too much going on, too many sub plots, yadda yadda yappit yap. Well screw em says I! Theres no such thing as too much or even enough pirate film about in my book, and PIRATES 4 delivers on all points of the compass.
Picking up a few years after the last one left off, we catch up with Saucy Jackie and Mr Gibbs as they run afoul of an old flame of Jacks, the wickedly saucy Angelica, and her mad bad voodoo weaving dad Blackbeard. All have set sail in search of the fountain of youth, with an expedition of Spaniards on their tails, and old Hector Barbossa who is out to get Blackbeard back for stealing his ship and his right leg to boot. Its full on PIRATES rollicking fun and games, with chases, fights, mermaids and the undead thrown in for jolly...even old Capn Teach (Keefie himself) makes an appearance. Yes its a rollercoaster ride for two hours, but it doesnt feel like flogging a dead horse to this old seadog and hopefully, end of flick hook permitting, theres another segment to come.
Classic pirate film fun, and in a sea of doldrums and remake hell its a definite solid gold keeper. Fatso Ebert can bite my barnacled hornswaggle, and its the black spot for any that doubt my oath. Now get at em you scurvy sea dogs, and set your compass on all the usual sources = veehd, oneclickmoviez, and torrent bay.
