Will someone give me their take on this, as I'm curious to know

Mongo it is called humour. It would seem American humour can be a litttle different to Brit humour. As for Olmate taking a beat down we all have from time to time. I have had stick as I live in Wales and have had lots of sheep jokes as have some of our members from Australia.I think Chelsea has had that. When I have been to America I have found most of the locals to be nice ordinary people as I'm sure you would find if you came to the UK.Mongo Slade wrote:No Kraka it doesn't matter, allow me to reiterate, just curious to know!
Most of the people that I've met there were very friendly and helpful to me. Wherever I travel, it's with an open mind. I respect people from all walks of life. I know what its like to be discriminated against, especially in America.
Thanks Olmate, for not jumping to conclusions like others on this forum. I noticed that you've taken a beat down on some of your previous post also.![]()
Tokyo to BKK is 6 hours flying time and 2 hour time change. I'd say if you rustled up all the expats actually living in Thailand (not part year visitors), yanks would represent about 25%. There a many more up country and in Issan than along the costal areas. For some reason it seems they like to live near the airbases where they worked long ago, Korat, Udorn, Ubon NKP, Takhli etc. What does surprise me is that many, many are still with the same Thai wife they married 35+- years ago. Good on 'em. Vietnam Relic PeteHansMartin wrote: From SFO it is 10 hours to Tokyo, then a 2 hour layover, then 8 more hours to BKK.
Cobra Gold 2006 just concluded. It was going on throughout the country from May 16 to 26. Joint military training exercises held yearly, American, Thai's Singaporeans, Indoneasians and many other "observer" countries. This is a yearly deal going back decades. As far as I know there are no active duty US military stationed in Thailand "officially"...except perhaps for some of the communication listening stations scattered in the northeast and north. Again, most of these stations go back to the VN days.caller wrote:Can't say about HH, but I saw lots of US serviceman in Khorat, off duty in an irish named place nect to the Sima Thani hotel. I thought they were active in the northern border areas?
