Watched the event on TV today. Found it very difficult to see the ball most of the time or am I just getting ancient? Also found the replay not exactly what one would normally see... camera on the player, not the action.

Found the match between the ladies disappointing, so left before the doubles. Venus looked lethargic and completely disinterested. Crowd never got into it and there were very few rallies. A few empty seats, which surprised me. Around 4000 spectators.

On the plus side, Sharapova made a little more effort and bottles of water were only 10 thb. Beats Wimbledon where three strawberries can set you back 20 UKP. When Venus serve worked (rarely) it was unplayable.

Ticketmaster sold out but 600 tickets were available on the door, which is where I purchased mine. I used my seafaring knowledge of wind and wave to instinctively select the best seats, with a nice breeze, not too hot and an unrestricted vantage point. Or so I told my companion. In reality I got lucky.

Too few inspirational moments to feel value for money. Perhaps the doubles was better.
