I came across this photo and whilst it's a long shot - could the 'large' building next to the Red Bar - and opposite Happy Toro Bar - be the hotel you're referring to?
The room prices listed on the website are as you stated BaaBaa - circa 1,500 night - let's hope they're still in a negotiation mood! The price you and your friends secured was obviously a very good one!!!

Like I said, the price list had discount stickers all over it when I went to look at the place and I stayed through most of January, Im sure it will still be 900 baht now.
If you do not mind hearing the bars until 1AM, not a bad choice, but opposite is a guesthous e/hotel that sells for 50% of that price ( stayed there several times for a one nighter for 600 / night during PEAK season)

I payed 900 baht during PEAK season so your 50% is wrong, as I said earlier in the thread you cant hear the bars at all if you get on a higher floor.
You stay in Baan Pak Hua Hin if you like crap rooms, mai pen rai.
I stayed at Jings in one of their larger rooms (I think they call them their New Suite Rooms) for 800 per night. I stayed there for 1 month so 800pn may have beeen a special rate?
These 'larger' Rooms have either a small balcony or terrace area on the ground floor rooms and equiped with kingsize bed, fridge, a/c, TV & DVD player so it has all you need at a competitive price.
Jings has been mentioned here many times and received many good reveiews which I totally support! It's a good clean friendly place - and bang central to the 'action areas' !!
For more info you can visit Jing's website
Hope this helps Pagey...
