your experiance married to a Thai

I'm a bit worried you feel the need to ask the question. If you are married to the right women and she is married to the right man you can overcome any problems that the world will throw your way. You will both sort out any family or cultural problems and emerge with a stronger and more loving relat...

90 year lease

I really believe a Usufruct is the only way under the presant system but beware when going to the Land Office. They tride to extract 10,000 Baht from me to process the paperwork. The legal amount to pay is 55 Baht.

underdtanding thailand

What a brilliant post. It has given me a far greater understanding of Thailand than all the books I have read.
One of my Wifes favorite expressions " Thai know Thai " used whenever we meet another Thai now takes on a whole new meaning.

house registration

Beware when you register anything at the Land Office. We recently went to register a Usufruct for my Wifes land and they requested 10,000 Baht to carry out the work. When I questioned this high amount they said how much do I want to pay? My reply " Whatever the Government requires me to pay&quo...

money exchange

Changed some money yesterday using two debit cards.
Recieved a rate of 48.5 Baht/£ on my HSBC card.
Recieved a rate of 50.0 Baht/£ on my Nationwide card.
The transactions were made for the same amount and made within seconds of one another. No fixed charge on either card.
No contest.
Steve.

Baan Bol Hin

Hi.
Went for a meal at the Baan Bol Hin last night.
A new Restaurant near Pineapple Village on the road out of HuaHin to Black Mountain Golf Course.
Very good food, reasonable prices and a lovely setting catering for both Thai and European.
Worth a try.

Having spent time in Libya, Iraq , Iran ,The Congo and many other less than safe countries the only place I felt unsafe was Nigeria ( Corruption was Total from top to bottom )
So, a few minor problems in Bangkok wouldn't stop my Winter Holiday in HuaHin.

HuaHin Land Office Regulations

Thankyou Nereus. The point you have made about having the Building Permit issued in my name is very important. So, it looks like the way for me to go is to get a lifetime Usafruct for the land and then have the Building Permit issed in my name. On completion have the house registered in my name. Is ...
