There was an expat team who 'trained' regularly and had proper organised matches called Hinchester United when I first came to Hua Hin (5-6 years ago) but after a few of the regulars moved away it petered out, to be revived briefly about 3 to 4 years ago. The biggest problem then was finding somewhere to practice and play, as well as having enough hard core players to turn up every week so that even a 5-a-side game could be played. This may not be the case now as there must be more expats here now, but the playing area will still be a problem. We used to practice at the school grounds of the school next to Market Village but it was rock hard and had very little grass, but the schools at least normally have goal posts! Another place we looked at but never tried, was in Samorphong, which had a proper dedicated football pitch, and it looked like there was a Thai team(s?) who regularly played there - it was fenced in and even had a small spectator area and 'dugouts', so i imagine someone would have to contact whoever runs the Thai team to find out if/when that would be available. The time you play is another factor - too near midday and it is too hot (and some people wouldn't be able to play) and too near 6 pm and you run out of light.
I would be interested in having a kick around but would need to get fit first!

I'm up for it ... still have my old number 14 shirt from those Hinchester days!

Is the little five-a-side pitch in Karat Villa an option?

I saw an excellent full size pitch up the Pala-U road, probably about 2km past La Valee project.
The grass looked great, full size goals with nets. I couldn't work out whose it is, there did not seem to be any Army/Government complex nearby or anything.
Could well be for use with pitch fees ?

Here's the Google Map link, its just to the right of that housing project: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=12.57737 ... &t=h&hl=en
Its just off the HHAD map, but would be one tile left of A-7: http://www.huahinafterdark.com/hua-hin-area-map.htm

I'll be Fabio Cappello and will hold the oranges for half time and the beers for full time - if there's any left. :thumb:

I'm sure there are enough people in HH even during the low season for this to work now, but it needs someone to be in charge who is prepared to be there every week at the designated venue, find and book the venue, to get phone numbers and phone round, to post on here and generally get people going. I would do it but I just don't have the time to be able to commit to it, and I think anything like this is better taken on by a bar owner, as there can also be a noticeboard or similar to attract 'casual' players, plus they can get something back as an after match/practice venue. Once it starts it should tick along reasonably well by itself after a few weeks, although at some point matches or tournaments would need to be organised. So the question is - any volunteers? :thumb:
