offensive language

Post by BelgianBoy »

Mods,

I was just moderated in the 'rude farang' thread.
No problem as I was unaware that it was indeed a problem for the board.
And I discovered this only by chance as I was re-reading my own last entry with a warning.
A PM would be better IMO.....to warn the offenders.

Then again, no offence meant, if f***** - ass**** - c*** are offensive words, are moron - idiot - w***** - troll - and farang, also not offensive as well ?

A ruling please !

I wish you had taken the time to read the Terms & Conditions, which you were invited to do when you signed up. The following two snippets should explain.

Flaming or personal attacks are not allowed or tolerated. Should anyone use inappropriate language, start a personal attack, or engage in hate speech, they will be banned from all further discussions.

Discussions about moderator or Administrator actions are welcome in email or local private messages, but should not be discussed in public forums. This is out of respect for the members and moderators or policy involved.

Many people of all ages, male and female read this forum for information and ask questions about Hua Hin. Bad language is not allowed.

Keep in mind good manners and understand that anyone could be reading information you are posting, and may be offended by your language.

I also think you understand the difference between vulgar language and name calling.

Hi JD,

I did read the rules indeed, even earlier today before my posting here.

- flaming : I wasnt
- personal attacks : nope
- inappropriate language : maybe define this better in the rules ?
- start a personal attack : did not
- engage in hate speech : did not
Basically I was only ranting :)

I also did not challenge any rules or mods' ruling, just asked a clarification / ruling, sorry if it came over that way.

My understanding is that the moderators edited the "inappropriate language" and not anything connected with flaming, personal attacks or hate attacks.

The definition of inappropriate language is almost impossible to make as people have different thresholds. My method of determining what is OK is if it passes the mother and daughter test. If you don't use the word in front of your mother or your daughter then don't use it here.

Offensive language adds little to the written word anyway.

If in doubt use the s***ing stars.

By responding to this I am in danger of breaking the second T&C in JD's reply.

I hope this helps.

So you don't think that f***** - ass**** - c*** - w***** - is inappropriate language. If that is the case, you shouldn't have agreed to the T&C's and not bothered signing up then.

This thread is now locked, keep any more discussions on this thread to PM.
