House wanted-rental.

Post by pauleddy »

University Lecturer BKK (Brit) and partner (Thai) moving to HH soon. Both males, 50 and 30 years old, although we 'look normal' and do not wear lipstick.

Need a small-medium house to rent for a year or two, maybe longer, while we take our time looking to buy! We have most furniture, incl. table and sofa, plasma TV, desk, kitchenware..so part-furnished or negotiable. We have no bed (renting), altho' could buy.

The Brit has lived here a few years, the Thai is, well...Thai. This means that we are well able to look around for Thai-owned houses at Thai prices. We regret that we are not able to consider luxury palaces owned by owners overseas who want luxury prices! In view of this, we would find it unusual for the big real estate agents to reply to this ad.

House must be in good condition and quiet/private. Outside of town is OK, but not 40km out! Of course, beach is always nice. The ideal place would be on a 'beach soi' which is a little out of town (north or south), or else in the town but in a residential zone. Houses in the hills may be OK, but we would need to check location etc.

If we liked your house (after a while), we could come to an arrangement to buy it, if you wanted that outcome, altho' it's too early to promise anything like that.

We both study and do NOT have wild parties. The Brit can do small household/decorating/general jobs IF NEEDED, so you won't be asked to paint a door. The Thai is VERY clean and tidy, almost fanatical, so your house will always be well-kept. We have no children (!) and no dogs.

Quiet is important. If there are noisy neighbours, dogs or hordes of teenagers, we would move out the same day. Golf is not an issue. we don't play. Access to a pool would be a bonus.

If the house is 2-bed, we would use one as an office. Internet and UBC TV would be needed; we currently have these, and would transfer contract. Note that an office-study is required, so a one bed place may not be enough.

We visit HH a fair bit, so we 'know' about prices, especially as one of us is Thai.

Wooden chalets on stilts which are usually used as holiday homes (etc.) are unlikely to suit. We would consider a condo in very rare circumstances (the quiet, zone and price would have to be exceptional).

Thank you for taking the time to read this. It is worth going into detail and being honest, so that we don't waste your time!

Eddy

PS if you reply, details + photos + map details welcomed.

As above, please check your PM inbox.

(Wish the PM feature here was a bit more obvious when it comes to signaling that there is a message waiting. If one doesn't have the email notification loggled 'on' in their profile, a new board member could easily not notice that there is a PM waiting for a few years :)

Cheers ...
