Hi all,
I am travelling with 3 friends to Hua Hin at Easter 2008 (20th March - 6th April) and we've decided we'd like to take a 2 night 3 day trip down to Koh Talu.
Now, from what i've gathered, it's better to visit the island midweek as it is less busy.
I have seen the website where you can book accomodation:
http://www.r24.org/beachsiam.com/huahin/taluisland/
However I find the site confusing. I know one of the bays is much better than the other - and we would like to stay in one of these - however i do no know which bay this is.
We would also like to have air conditioning, however I have no idea which type of villa (suite, delux, thai style?) includes air conditioning. I am also not sure of the difference between these different Villas. This is my biggest worry - as there are 1 couple and 2 individuals going - ideally we'd like a three bed villa, but a 2 bed villa would also be ok. if not possible, we'd have to just get two individual villas!
Ideally, we'd like one of the above arrangements, air conditioned, on the nicest beach, overlooking the beach / sea from Monday 31st March - Wednesday 2nd April. We are flexible however.
We are also unsure as to how to go "full board". The prices quoted on the above site seem to include breakfast, and there is mention of a "special package" which includes full board, but no prices are mentioned and upon emailing the hotel they say to book first (which obviously I am cautious about at this stage). Could anyone give advice on this? Is it better just to buy all meals once there?
I have read about Buffalo Bill, and have sent him / them an e-mail detailing my above requirements. I am more than happy to book directly with the hotel and organise a taxi journey down to the island, but I need more information first!
If anyone can shed any light, or provide any advice, it would be REALLY appriciated!
Thanks very much in advance folks, maybe we'll see you in Hua Hin soon!

Ok - you can book the same accommodation for the same rates through HHAD also:
http://www.r24.org/huahinafterdark.com/ ... aluisland/
The island itself is very small and that is the only accommodation available on it. More info on Talu, a basic map and a few pics of the area can be found here:

Yes, weekends are usually busier (and long weekends often more expensive as half of Bangkok arrive). Since there is only that resort on the island "full board" will mean you eat in their restaurants as you have no alternative anyway they have the monopoly on Talu so no real need to book it.
You would need to fill in the booking form so the agent can give you more specifics on the rooms - you don't have to confirm or pay anything, just ask them questions, Sawadee (R24) are pretty good at responding.
Moving this to accommodation.

I went down to Tuk Tours on Poonsuk Road and she booked the reservation for me - very good service. Remember to get a receipt because they want to see it before entering the speedboat to the island.
It was a midweek stay with only one night (early november 2007). I was the only tourist there except for a german couple - it was great! So it is a great spot for a relaxing trip (you cannot do anything but to take it very easy) but do not expect too much of the snorkeling. We had a lot of wind and thus unclear waters, but perhaps we were just unlucky.

Hmm, I think it was about 3800-3900 bath (but I do not remember it exactly) and that was in a very nice double room - no villa - but they did look very nice. Included in this price was all meals with free water, snorkling, a little bit of trekking on the island and transfer from Hua Hin. I guess my price might be a couple of hundred bath higher as I travelled alone.
The staff on island was very nice, and as I more or less was the only tourist there, I might have gotten more attention than with a full occupancy. But based on my experience I can recommend the trip at least for a 1 night/2 day trip.
