Khao Kho National Park in Phetchabun Province - Closure

Post by PeteC »

Khaosod English

Khao Kho National Park in Phetchabun Province has announced its closure from today through April 30, 2025. All public access to the park is prohibited as a preventive measure against forest fires and PM 2.5 air pollution.

This decision follows the detection of multiple heat signatures within the park and surrounding forest areas. Investigators have traced the sources of forest fires to several activities: agricultural burn-offs, foraging, hunting, and deliberate fire-setting in forested areas.

I was there over Christmas, and the air quality felt great. How sad that Thais have so little respect for their environment.
