Sam Phan Nam Floating Market re-opens

Post by Big Boy »

I've been reading the Sam Phan Nam Floating Market has re-opened to the public, and entrance is free again.

This was a regular stopping off point for visitors until they introduced the 200฿ admission fee for visitors, at which point I refused to ever cross their threshold again.

Once bitten, and all that, but I might consider putting the market back on my visitors tour. If anybody goes that way in the near future, can you please confirm admission is free again, even for foreigners?

Better to have an independent assessment, I think

Which of the three is this? The one directly on 112, the one off of 112, or the one near Wat Huay Mongkol? I never went to any of them, but might check the re-opened one out on a dry day!

The one off 112. If you go, please let us know your thoughts.

A recent Facebook posts suggested that only ~30% of the stalls were occupied.

Gmaps has some current reviews & photos. Looks nice and reviews are mostly positive, with a couple thinking it overpriced. It is a tourist attraction, so no surprise there.

Assuming Gmaps is Google Maps, I've just taken a look, and the overall score is 3.3, which isn't great. The newest review I see is 9 months old. As it has recently re-opened, I think most of what I've read, and the photos will no longer be relevant.

Just as B.B. originally says..once they introduced the 200b fee I never went again (or took any friends there)..This WAS a busy place, but greed by the folk running it saw that entrance fee be the death of the place..Let's see if it IS up & running again, & if it is free for foreigners..??

I'm sorry, but I don't read Thai. It was free entry before unless you were a foreigner. Does that poster specifically include foreigners?
