Pool clubs are a nice way to meet lots of people, lots of bars (don't need to be a big drinker). Find yourself a little local you enjoy and get on their team.

Great place for golf I've heard is Hua Hin (played once myself, couldn't hit the ball got bored ). Sure the OP might know about the golf, the pool etc.

It's a good starting point to meet people for other outdoor stuff or social events I guess.
