Tragic but a sad reminder of good reason to avoid places like this - it’s bound to attract unsavoury characters.

Re: Fatal shooting in Soi 80 bar
My son and his Thai girlfriend go to one of those Soi 80 clubs when they visit, he's never had any problems. There are or were two clubs, they're well known by young people, one was closed earlier this year for a drug bust but I think it soon opened again.
I hope we hear the details of this incident.

Re: Fatal shooting in Soi 80 bar
What a surprise ...It was reported that the suspect, believed to be associated with law enforcement, has a well-known presence on social media, where he frequently posts videos of himself at shooting ranges.

Re: Fatal shooting in Soi 80 bar
There's an article about it on another forum which reports that, at 4am in the Tiny Club a Police Commissioner shot and killed an Army Sergeant and wounded 2 others.
The Police advisor handed himself, plus firearm, in this morning and is in custody.

It's all good

[Mod Edit] Better we don't use that reference. Easier to link to the news story and translate, which is what the reference had done. https://www.thairath.co.th/news/crime/2808840404cameljockey wrote:My son and his Thai girlfriend go to one of those Soi 80 clubs when they visit, he's never had any problems. Police Advisory Board Member Shoots and Kills Sergeant in Hua Hin Pub
Sorry can't send link
Translation:
A drunk advisor to the Hua Hin Police Station got into a tiff with a Sergeant Major at Thanarat Camp. They argued before pulling out a 9 mm. pistol and shooting a young soldier twice in the chest. The victim collapsed and died in a ghastly pub in the middle of Hua Hin, while more than 50 partygoers panicked and ran for their lives. The next morning, the shooter, holding the deadly angel pistol, surrendered and denied the charges. The police pressed serious charges and denied bail at the investigation officer level.
A young man argued with a soldier at a popular pub in the middle of Hua Hin before pulling out a gun and shooting the soldier to death. A partygoer was also injured. It was revealed at 4:00 a.m. on August 18, Pol. Lt. Col. Surapong Pratumwan, an investigation officer at Hua Hin Police Station, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, received a report of a shooting incident with injuries and deaths inside the TINY Club, Soi Hua Hin 80, Phetkasem Road, in the Hua Hin Municipality area. He went to inspect the scene along with Pol. Col. Kittipop Chomphunuch, deputy commander of the Prachuap Khiri Khan Provincial Police, the investigation team at Hua Hin Police Station, doctors from Hua Hin Hospital, forensic officers from Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, and the Sawang Hua Hin Thammasathan Foundation.
The scene of the incident was a famous bar area about 100 meters deep in an alley, about 500 meters from the Hua Hin Police Station. In front of the shop, a large pool of blood was found. Inside the shop, broken beer bottles and soda bottles were scattered everywhere. The body of Sergeant Major Rojchanaphon Rojchanaphanit, 31 years old, or Sergeant Punch, an intelligence officer at the Infantry School Cadet Department, Thanarat Camp, Pran Buri District, Prachuap Khiri Khan Province, was found. He was wearing a black round-necked T-shirt, black pants, and white shoes. He was lying face up in his blood on the floor. He had been shot twice in the chest with a 9 mm gun and died on the spot. The family was in grief when they came to see the body at the scene. After the autopsy, the body was handed over to the foundation to send to Hua Hin Hospital for doctors to perform an autopsy to examine the bullet trajectory.
The injured were two men who were shot in the right arm and right waist with the same size bullets. They were sent to the hospital earlier. An inspection of the scene found three shells of the same size, which were collected as evidence. As for the CCTV footage around the shop, both inside and outside the shop, someone had already removed the camera server. Officers are currently tracking them down to inspect them. Initial findings show that the shop belongs to an influential person. It does not have a license to open a business and is open past the legal hours. It also neglects to allow customers to bring guns into the shop. The shop owner will be called in for legal action.
From the witnesses' statements, it was said that while Sergeant Punch and his friends were using the services at the said shop, more than 50 customers were drinking, eating, and dancing happily amidst the loud music. During that time, Mr. Sen, another customer who was drunk, had an argument with Sergeant Punch until the argument became violent. Suddenly, Mr. Sen pulled out a pistol from his waist and shot Sergeant Punch with a loud noise. The victim fell to the ground and the stray bullet accidentally hit 2 other customers, injuring them as well. Other customers were shocked and ran for their lives. After the incident, the police urgently searched for and arrested the perpetrator.
Later in the morning of the same day, Mr. Jakkrit or Sen Worawongphanitkul, 34 years old, the gunman who shot Sergeant Punch, lives at 1365/376 Sam Phraya Road, Cha-am District, Phetchaburi Province, and is an advisory board member of the Hua Hin Police Station. He brought a 9 mm. handgun and 12 bullets to surrender to the Hua Hin Police Station investigators. Initial charges include “intentional murder, carrying a firearm and ammunition in a city, village, or public area without good reason.” The suspect denied the charges. The police did not allow bail during the investigation and took him to the Hua Hin Provincial Court for further detention.
While the Facebook page of the group of friends of the deceased posted a photo of the deceased with a message expressing condolences for the death of Sergeant Major Rojchanaphon Rojchanaphanit or Sergeant Punch or the former name Sergeant Major Wanphan Phongchawee, an athlete of the Royal Thai Army and a skilled sergeant trainer, because the deceased was a good student who passed the exam as the number 1 of the 16255 Infantry Division.

Suspect in fatal pub shooting surrenders
A suspect has surrendered to police after a shooting in an illegal pub in Hua Hin left an army sergeant major dead and another person wounded.
Police were called to a pub in soi Hua Hin 80, off Phet Kasem road in Prachuap Khiri Khan, about 4am on Sunday.
A 31-year-old man, identified as Sgt Maj 1st Class Rojanaphon, had been killed, shot three times with 9mm calibre bullets, police reported.
Another customer had been shot in the arm and was taken to hospital by the Hua Hin Sawang Rescue team.
Witnesses told police they heard two or three gunshots, which sparked a rush to get out of the pub.
Police said on Monday that a suspect had since surrendered to Hua Hin police station. His name was not released, but he was identified as a member of the Police Administration Inspection and Monitoring Committee.
The pub was found to be operating illegally, not having had a licence for six months. The owner faces prosecution, and the pub was ordered shut down for five years.
Nearby residents are asking why police had not previously noticed the illegal pub, since it was only 500 metres from Hua Hin police station.

Re: Fatal shooting in Soi 80 bar
So how long will the farang expats and tourists have to put up with 12 midnight bar closing?
Feel free to comment as you wish but don't forget to answer the question ie how long?
Im going for 2 weeks
IMO that's plenty long enough for the farangs to suffer for some young Thai social media influencer 'policeman' shooting a Thai soldier in a dodgy bar at 4am that we farangs don't even go in!
This is hardly a reflection of Hua Hin nightlife generally and the police know it.
