Ferry over Gulf of Thailand 2024

Post by Tudorpalace »

Good morning, I'm planning a holiday in January, looking at 10 days in Hua Hin/Sam Roi Yot then making my way to Jomtien for about a week. I believe the original ferry is no longer in operation but there is one advertised, operated by Thailiving Ferry (although the information on the website is rather confusing) they mention the original ferry stopped running in December 2024 and this hi speed catamaran service began on 19th November 2024, running 3 days a week. If anyone can confirm there is such a service it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

John

Well those dates you mentioned it stopping are still in the future so that’s obviously wrong - I’m not aware of any ferry service currently running but if there is, I’m sure someone will shout soon.

I've tried to check it out on the Internet, and the only information I can find is on the thailand-huahin web page. That particular web site is showing the exchange rate as 67฿ to the £. I certainly hope their crystal ball is in full working order, but I think that is just a sign of the accuracy of their information.

Personally, I don't think you should be planning your trip, relying upon a ferry, but I would love to be wrong.

I think the only ferry now is the Chumpon to Koh Samui which has been around for years. Even that may have stopped now!

No, there's definitely a Pattaya to Koh Samui ferry.

There are no ferries currently running from Hua Hin across the gulf. The last one, that as expected, failed, departed from and arrived into Khao Takiap. The booking office and all other paraphanalia associated with the ferry has long since been removed.

The reason there is doubt is the vessel supposedly operated by Thailiving Ferry is supposed to dock at Pak Nam Pran, not Hua Hin.

The Thailiving Ferry was the one that ran for 1 year back in 2011/2012 and docked at my old marina - there are some sites online that are showing pictures of the "Imagine" catamaran of that time, but with 2024 dates...........

That's interesting - it must have finished as I arrived in Thailand. Thank you for the clarification.
