Re: Rise of Pride Parade
I imagine the Hua Hin show won't feature the near naked bondage, fetish and other appalling displays seen when they parade themselves in European cities. In such a case I could even get behind it.
Re: Rise of Pride Parade
It passes the end of my Soi. If I remember, I'll nip out to take a look. If there's anything worth photographing (should be colourful, at least), I'll post here.

I'm glad, once again, there's not been a single mention of 'Pride' this year in my school for Pride month. The whole thing is most definitely NOT for kids.
Sorry...

Re: Rise of Pride Parade
I was thinking the parade would pass the end of my Soi, but I am now having doubts, and have asked for clarification regarding where they will turn right on Soi 94, headed towards Soi 88.

Re: Rise of Pride Parade
All these diffrent groups that now have a day, week or month to celebrate whatever, makes me wonder why there isn't a week to celebrate the rest of us?
I quite like the idea of a parade marking the celebration of the 'rest of us'. Perhaps we should design a 'rest of us' logo, get right-on businesses to sponsor us, get central and local government funding to pay for a big concert somewhere, or concerts in many different locations, paying for police and ambulace cover in the process. Not to mention closing roads and affecting other businesses as well. It could become as big, if not bigger, than all the celebratory weeks and make the organisers lot's of money. Sounds good to me.

Exactly!!

Hope it's a colourful occasion without the depravity of some from the West involved...

I'd actually imagine it'll be quite a fun, colourful light-hearted event in Thailand. Public obscenity, or more extreme displays of 'affection', is still somewhat taboo over there. I'd probably give it a whirl if there.

Many years ago when working in the US, there was the "Gay Parade" (or something like) in San Francisco. It was my weekend off site (so travelled to the city), knew zip about the parade happening, but must admit to enjoying the day - it was just full of colour, lot's of laughs and no one pretending to be anything other than what they were. In other words, both Male and Female (nothing else), but were gay - they knew who wasn't and didn't push any agenda, neither did anyone else.Lost wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 10:56 pmdtaai-maai wrote: ↑Tue Jun 25, 2024 1:43 pm I think you should dig out your best feather boa and join in.![]()

Unfortunately these days are a whole lot different and quite frankly bloody depraved.
I shall step away from the Soapbox for fear of leaping on it!!

Ah, San Francisco - I was there in 1981. When we got there, we were warned by the hotel, whenever we left the hotel, we should always turn right, because left would take us into the gay quarter. Of course, we were young, and rebellious, and made a point of turning left every time we left the hotel. It was as normal as it could have been - men with men, women with women, but they were like normal couples, not interested in us there to look at a freak show.
It was just like being in Union Street, Plymouth on a Saturday night, except the couples were same sex instead of being mixed. They simply kept themselves to themselves.
