Visted here three times now on the recommendation of the general manager of Chiva Som. It's located about 1-2 km north of the main intersection and is right on the water, not far from the no-go zone near the king's palace.
Looked like an old house that they converted into a restaurant. While the house itself is rundown the Thai food and ocean views are great, although the lobster is expensive. Best to book a table. The Italian house wine is good value.
PS. Believe it's pronounced "In-sa-ra", otherwise the taxi driver may scratch his head.
Have been there many many times. Service is always good and prices are not expensive considering the location and ambience.
Try the Mussels in Basil Wine sauce delicious. Also the Seafood Sizzling Plater is always good.
Do not forget to book especially week-end and Thai holidays.
Great place, good food, good service and a great location in terms of sea views but I think it will miss out soon to Cocos 51. Same good view, same friendly staff but the food tops itsara
RICHARD OF LOXLEY
It’s none of my business what people say and think of me. I am what I am and do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. It makes life so much easier.
I was in Hua Hin last weekend with a large group of athletes from Bangkok. On Saturday morning a couple of Australian movers and shakers asked me to recommend a place for lunch. I directed them to Baan Itsara and the same evening they came to thank me.
However, my personal beach-side favourite in that part of town is the restaurant just before Baan Itsara (if you are approaching from the south). It's Thai name is 'You Yen' and it has a large illuminated Heineken can where you enter the car park from the road. It's a little more spacious than Baan Itsara and thus not so crowded. I would also give it an extra star in the 'romantic ambiance' category.
