Anyone got any advice on the best bars for good rock and blues. Is the Blues Station as good as they say?!
Thanks for any advice. 8)

I'm not sure if it's named the Blues Station or House of Blues, maybe there are both. I was in one or theother a few months ago and it was indeed good but, that was high season. I don't know the quality these days with tourists so low, except for weekends which are probably OK given the Bangkok crowd. The one I was in was off a small soi adjacent to Walking Street.

As far as Rock, just walk down Walking Street and you will spot many small open air bars with some very good local talent. Some so popular that they set the chairs up like a stage/audience area and not like a bar area. Some of those places have people standing out in the street listening and dancing. Most don't have a name on the door as there is no door. Your ear will guide you. The one directly across from the FLB Bar has been very good in the past. Pete

PS: It's been pissing rain for days now, many places are closed for a few months as no business. Can't guarantee what you'll find.

And if all that fails and you want to try a good disco.....head for Lucifers, on the ocean side a few doors north of the FLB Bar. Crazy place but a ton of fun and, it attracts the office girls as well as the pros and both really let their hair down. It's live group music, usually some black guys from ??? but they know how to do it well with their music choices.

Being the fogy that I am unfortunately, I don't go in there much anymore. When I did, a crowd of 500 plus was not unusual. Only one door though, the main door, as most of the structure sits out over the water. Keep that in the back of your mind in case you smell smoke other than cigarettes or cigars. Pete

If you want to rock like a mutha, there is an excellent bar under the steps that lead up to the Polo club in Walking Street, I found it by accident and I don't know whether it was the beer but the band there played fairly half decent covers of Metallica,ACDC ...etc...still it was enough to keep me nodding my head like a moron for a couple of hours!
