Swimming Pools
Swimming Pools
I am intending to stay at a guest house on my first visit to Hua Hin. Are there any swimming pools i would be able to use in Hua Hin, as this is the one aspect of a hotel i would miss.
Swimming pools
Hello Thai Rob
In a small soi just beside Marriot Resort there are several guest houses - very nice place . These guest houses keep a swimming pool at the top of the street - and the beach 50 m. down at the end of the street. Perfect
We stayed at New Beach Guesthouse in this soi in Christmas....
Faboulous.....
Have a nice trip....

Stayed @ the Sukwilai on Bintabaht - their pool will not be in use until early 2007. So we used the pool @ the Phuen GH for 50bhts /head/session - didn't pay for toddler.
On the main road heading for Khao Takiab about 50mts after the Siam Comercial bank - an optical shop on the front corner with the entrance about 15mtrs down the soi.

New Beach Guesthouse
Thank you Maggie for your recommendation. I have just looked at their website and it looks a marvellous place, just what i am looking for in Hua Hin. I hope you dont mind if i ask whether it is guest friendly as i will be a single traveller when i get to Hua Hin, as my friend accompanying me can only get half of my month in Thailand off work. Best wishes Thai Rob

Rob,Maggie has let you into an uknown world down that Soi,does not really get a mention on this site too much but most of the hotels/guest houses on it are Scandinavian run and are for sure guest friendly and the pool gets good sun in the afternoon as it is not overshadowed by huge buildings as can happen at some other places after 3:30 in the afternoon.Motorcycle rent down there is cheap too.Direct access to the beach as well though you have to walk past the much maligned Verandha.

Thank you Digger
Thank you Digger for your information it is greatly appreciated. I did Email the guest house direct, but not sure if they fully understood my polite delicate enquiry. I will certainly give the guest house Maggie and you recommended a try when i arrive next February to check out Hua Hin.
I’m a keen swimmer and if you want to swim lengths as opposed to splashing around the best pool I’ve found is at Palm Hills golf club, ( head towards Cha Am and turn left after the airport tunnel) they have an excellent 50m pool. You pay 200bt a visit or join the sport club for a month although I forget how much that is. There are sun loungers, food and drinks service and its clean and well kept. The other pool I sometimes use is at Sport Villa ( heading south on the right before the flyover ) this is not so up market and shorter but they only charge 50bt a visit. There may be other pools at hotels that allow you to pay for the day but most tend to require a subscription to there gyms. As for the soi by the marriot, several years ago I used to stay at the Leng guest house down there and found it very good value and friendly, and you could use the small pool at the end. ( this was a while back so check first ) I agree with Digger that this is an area well worth looking at, and it’s a nice walk into town on the beach during the day.
