Family trip to Thailand

I have been asked to give ideas for places to visit for a mixed age UK family, who will be in Thailand this December.

No problems with suggestions for Bangkok and the north, Kanchanburi, and of course HuaHin. But there are 5 in the group - a couple in their 40's with a boy of about 10, and a woman in her early 20s who wants a fun beach with probably a Full Moon Party thrown in.
I've never been to the southern islands, and would really appreciate advice on the best place to go down there which could cater for all 5 of them.
