We are all fammiliar with the yellow and white striped lines, but what do they actually mean?
Yesterday I went to the yellow bank on Petchkasem Rd and parked in the yellow white parking area in front of the bank. When I came out, there was a cop attaching a parking fine under my wiper blades. Naturally I pleaded my innocence and pointed out the tempory parking lines, telling him that I had only left the car for 10 minutes!. Then I noticed that the "tempory parking 5 minutes" sign had been removed (later found hid behind the bus shelter) The cop was relentless, and then I noticed the wheel clamps!!! I had no choice but to go to the police station and pay the fine before he would remove the clamp.
At the police station, the officer thought it was highly amusing, but the THB500 extra for the wheel clamp he thought to be extravagent, so after a quick phone call, it was waived. But then he tells me that "tempory parking" means hat one person has to remain in the car. I think they make it up as thay go along !
Does anyone know the true definition of yellow / white parking lines ????
Tempory parking
Re: Tempory parking
I don't know the law but I've always assumed it to be mainly for pick up and drop off or a very quick run inside, and yes I never do that last one unless my wife is left in the car to fend off the cops.
Now that parking laws are being enforced, I bet more people other than just me will start complaining about the parking situation here.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: Tempory parking
I recently did my bike licence and it was defined as "temporary drop-off, pick-up and unloading". There was no mention of one person having to be in the vehicle at all times as far as I recall.

Re: Tempory parking
Yellow and white markings on the curb indicates it is a short-term parking space only, usually no
more than five minutes, or that it is a bus stop. It is not advisable to park in these places... sorry

I do agree with Bristolian and can only say it's your fault.
Just pay the fine but remember.
