Motocy- Transfer of Ownership
Motocy- Transfer of Ownership
I'm thinking about buying a used motocy from a private person. He's got the ownership document (green book?). How do I get ownership transferred to my name? I suppose he has to sign some sort og legal document? Do we both have to meet up at the Motoregister or whatever official office??

Re: Motocy- Transfer of Ownership
I have bought and sold a few vehicles in the last 13 years.
I recommend you to go to the Traffic division with the seller (either Thai or foreigner).
In every Traffic division, there are small "private shops" that will do everything for you and tell you if there is something wrong.
You just have to go with passport + residence certificate from immigration (same documents for the seller, if foreigner).
The motorcycle will have a technical inspection if more than 5 years old.
It must be correctly taxed and insured.
I always paid after the vehicle had been transfered into my name.
In two cases, the transfer was not possible (grey import big bikes with dubious serial numbers...)

Re: Motocy- Transfer of Ownership
Seller doesn't need to go with you, just needs to provide the following:
1) Green book signed
2) Copy of ID/passport signed
3) Power of attorney form signed

Right, Buksida, but if there is a problem with the documents or the bike, and it cannot be transfered, as it happened to me 2 times, what will you do ?buksida wrote:Seller doesn't need to go with you, just needs to provide the following:

If I do not know the seller, I will not pay the vehicle until I get the book in my name.
