Steve from Red Bar has passed away
Really sad news, Steve from Red Bar died yesterday morning, seem slike a heart attack or asthma related. He was a genuine, nice fella always good to have a crack with and smiling.
It seem sthat the good uns always go early.
RIP Steve

I didn't know Steve personally, but I always had a warm welcome there - must have met him. I would think this will be a sad loss to the Hua Hin community.

That's right Kenny, you did meet him I remember.kendo wrote:I was in there a few times in January was he a scoucer?

It most definately will be BB, he was a 100% nice, kind bloke who always had a smile on his face. I know people always pour on the praise at times like this but he was an all round top bloke as JW mentioned. He would go out of his way to welcome customers, sitting with them for hours even though he'd never met them before and they were going home in several days. during the real dead months he was managing to get good crowds in whereas the surrounding bars were often pretty empty but he would go out of his way to go across the road and have a drink with them for the last 2 hours of the night.Big Boy wrote:I didn't know Steve personally, but I always had a warm welcome there - must have met him. A few people turned out last night and sat opposite the closed Red Bar which wasn't arranged at all just people had a similar inclination to migrate down there, and some of the girls from his bar actually turned up to do the exact same thing. And they were devastated, saying how he was like a Dad to them in HH, actually listened to them and cared about their issues. They got the bar opposite that we were in to play some of his favourite songs (shocking taste in music the lad had but no-one's perfect)... and then cried when the songs were on. The little flower sellers, especially the boy who never ages, asked why it was closed and they were crying when told about it, cos he always had time to joke around with them whereas they often get shooed out of bars cos they're pests.
We all went our own way come 1am'ish, then about 4am couple of us came out a bar in the karaoke area and one of his girls was sitting on a bench outside crying her eyes out. What more can you say. I'm not 100% sure if it was asthma related as JW mentioned, although most of us thought same as he was heavily using an inhaler last few days, but before he went home quite rough late Friday night people asked what was up and he mentioned he'd had it before and it was a fluid build up across the chest. The story seems to be that he woke up 5-6am'ish struggling to breathe (which supposedely was him sort of drowing in this fluid build up), and then his heart gave way under the stress of trying to cope with it. But that account could be a bit wrong!? His family & friends are on way now I believe.
And how wierd is this, we get in the bar and it's the opening day of the Premier League season and Liverpool are on the TV... which is what the 'Red' in 'Red Bar' is all about!! They're open tonight for a 'toast' kind of affair, everyone's welcome...
Steve on the left... RIP mate

I liked the guy, genuine, no bull shit. I will miss him, he was the one of the major people involved in helping Chris out with his problems. Decent all round good guy, the town will be less for the likes of him passing by. Dam shame. RIP fella.

Very sad news, he was a lovely man.
Re: Steve from Red Bar has passed away
Indeed very sad news. He was a scoucer all right, because I could never understand one full sentence of what he said, but he must be one of the friendliest bar owners I've ever met in Hua Hin.
As JD says; he was one of the major people behind the scene helping Chris out.
He had a warm heart and cared about people.
A sad day indeed!
RIP Steve.
