Greek restaurant

Post by julian777 »

Hi , I used to live and work in Greece, ofcourse like all the other rats escaping from the sinking ship I came to Hua-Hin. I do miss greek food, there are 4 greek restaurants in Bangkok but none in Hua-Hin, is it so difficult to get the good greek style food here, Villa Market charge over 200 baht for a small slab of feta cheese, and olives just as bad, any suggestions, apart from xxxx off back to Greece.

Best Beans Coffee in Takiab serves up a nice Greek salad (if they have the ingredients in stock when you arrive), but other than that I don't know of any Greek food here.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

The first person to put up gyro on a vertical spit in his window may have a stampede on his hands. Wouldn't be a bad addition for Terrace 90. I'm not sure if a gyros sandwich is a true Greek dish, but damn are they good! :D Pete

Yes Giros, I know I even have a thai friend who has a kebab rotary machine , but they wont try as they need to sell alot each day, and looks like too much hard work for a thai ,so they dont bother, but yes a stampede would be true. they do a moderate kebab off bintabaht near mc murphys not bad for 60 baht, but no where near a good giros kebab with tzaziki sauce and lots of salad.

I actually ate couple of times at that kebab shop on parallel road west of railway, about 200 meters south from the 88 crossing. On both times they heated the meat on skillet instead of a real vertical kebab skewer. Mind you, was not the worst of kebabs I've eaten. However, that kebab shop soon vanished.

I haven't met for quite a while the young lady who used to make a few months back very good kebabs on Pheskasem Road in front of Chrystal hotel. Pity, for her kebabs were quite good.

There was a french guy (I think) who starting gyros/kebabs near the train station, not sure if he is still there, but I've never seen it busy....

He had a vertial spit, but I never saw it switched on. I'm also partial to a kebab, and had a couple there, where the pre-cooked meat was heated under a grill..

Hi Julian 777

First of all, sorry, I can't help with the Hua Hin Greek food question...but....you mentioned 4 Greek restaurants in Bangkok - do you know them and if so which would you recommend? - Going up there next week and now have a real Greek food craving after reading your post the other day!

Thanks
