Carnival or Fair at Hua Hin Centennial Park
Carnival or Fair at Hua Hin Centennial Park
They are setting up some type of carnival or fair at Hua Hin Centennial Park today. I have no idea what it is but they have already set up a Ferris wheel and a lot of other rides.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: Carnival or Fair at Hua Hin Centennial Park
There's also something going on at the park downtown across from the TOT office. It looks like some kind of food and craft fair...

Maybe we should put in some comments about the safety of these rides at traveling carnivals? The wife won't go near them, apparently from reading a lifetime of accident reports in the newspaper. She even has a problem with Dream World in Bangkok now. Seems something happened there not too long ago. I think the fear among the Thais is an issue with regular maintenance and safety inspections. "Regular" "Maintenance" "Safety" "Inspections": Do these words exist at all in the Thai vocabulary???prcscct wrote:Maybe we should put in some comments about the safety of these rides at traveling carnivals? This it?
As usual the Hua Hin poster department only wants to market to Thais.

Yes. I guess that those of us who live here will eventually have to bite the bullet and learn Thai.....(or Lao, since most of the loose meat seems to speak that)buksida wrote:This it?

Isn't that it said "Hua-Hin Grand Carnival" "Starts 1st April" and "Coca-Cola" in English??? I think the funs and the rides pictures in Carnival are all universal to understand in any languages.

Where is it then? How much?playboy wrote:Isn't that it said "Hua-Hin Grand Carnival" "Starts 1st April" and "Coca-Cola" in English??? I think the funs and the rides pictures in Carnival are all universal to understand in any languages.
So, 1st of April, 2 days away. It would be great if they could let HH Forum know in advance about such events.
We only usually find out when the Jazz festival is on because Buks has trawled through Thai language media, it's ridiculous.
A bit gutted I won't be in HH for this, little lad would love it. I'll be there for the Jazz festival though as I'm there for the whole of June, I won't find out the actually dates until about 2 weeks before though.
Re: Carnival or Fair at Hua Hin Centennial Park
its between soi 112 and 114 just after the flyover cant miss it got a big wheel and lots of other modern rides ,i think its 50 baht a ride .
Re: Carnival or Fair at Hua Hin Centennial Park
It's at Hua Hin Centenial Park, where they had the pro tennis exhibition last year. That poster Buksi posted must be it as the Ferris wheel looks like the one in the photo.
What about the one going on in the park downtown by the Tessabahn? Anyone know what that is. I just drove by and it looked interesting and crowded.

I think this is a food and craft fair promoting southern Thailand with lots of people wearing black T-shirts to guide you.hhfarang wrote:There's also something going on at the park downtown across from the TOT office. It looks like some kind of food and craft fair...
On until Sunday.
Re: Carnival or Fair at Hua Hin Centennial Park
Some just want everything to be only in EnglishWhere is it then? How much?

Event, opening times, entrance fee, date and address are plain to read in English for those of us who see the posters and are in Thailand - the people who are likely to be involved

Whats next a campaign to get subtitles added to the Thai soaps

no more dePreston
Re: Carnival or Fair at Hua Hin Centennial Park
Never said that. Common sense dictates that posters advertising and marketing events in a tourist town would be in English language also as they are in Pattaya, Phuket and Samui - I can read the Thai ones but can your average two-weeker that would like to see some local events?poosmate wrote: Some just want everything to be only in English![]()
Hua Hin seems to defy this logic.

Re: Carnival or Fair at Hua Hin Centennial Park
I suspect that some folks resent us foreigners coming here and would like Hua Hin to go back to the Thai family holiday destination it was ten years ago.
From the signs I've seen, it appears that the floating markets they are building here are mainly aimed at Thai tourists, like Plearnwan, and Cicada Market. It seems more and more of these attractions aimed mainly at the (Bangkok) Thai market are springing up here each year. I'm not sure the foreign invasion is welcomed here by most.

Isn't that it giving you a "nostagia feeling" not to know anything! Like the first time you come to Thailand and you find out that Thailand is so mysterious and make you want to stay on, want to find out more? Same as you come in Hua Hin town and saw the big Carnival as a surpised!!! and start to join in as you are a little kids again.
