Renting one is pretty easy, lot of places probably, least of your worries with doing this, just check the bike for previous damage before you sign anything. What's hard is not killing yourself whilst in charge of one, especially if you are not used to riding a bike. If you're not used to it then.......be afraid and be careful.

Look in your mailbox

As Spitty said if you arent used to riding it can be a bit.... challenging ;-) ..... riding round town during traffic hours. Wear a helmet!!!!

Just zoom around the forums and post sensibly on a few and add your genuine thoughts.

Once you make it to 10 posts you'll be fine and can read them (PMs). It's an admin thing to stop spammers etc, just get involved and then you can access.

And don't forget - people here drive in the wrong (left) side of the road -then again, not always. Ya never know until it hits ya. Watch out. Side mirrors on scooters used by ladies are for make-up check only.

There is a motorcycle dealer on the inland side of Petchkasem just north of soi 94 that a rents scooters for 3000 baht a month, according to my neighbor. Others offer this price, but can't remember any right now.

Boy & Boom rent scooters at the corner of poonsuk and bintabaht, right next to the rear temple entrance. They charge 150b a day for most of the bikes. Most other rental places in the tourist district want 200 or 250b.

Helmets here are double crap because: 1) they're not built to any known safety standard, and 2) they don't because they're built to the average thai skull which is relatively shorter fore and aft and wider side to side than that of caucasians. You can buy a helmet for less than 500b if you want a clean one.

Just opposite the shell servo heading out of town, on your right. There is a bike shop that sells full face proper helmets. Not sure if they are iso standard, but better than plastic!!
