Car auction

Post by jimmy40 »

Hi everyone, can any body tell me when the Thailand customs auctions are on? It seems really hard to find out, it gets reported after the event seems to happen, maybe thats how they want it :o

Think you might have answered your own question there Jim. People like you, whether Thai or foreign, showing up with money is probably bad for competition and prices. It's probably fixed and secret, like everything else and the regulars don't want others on their "gig" as it might mean they have to pay a fair/higher price.

We couldn't possibly have that now, could we?

When they do the property auctions too, people turn up to get a cheap lot or deal, then some general or bigwig rocks up and nobody will bid against them and said "gentleman" gets his product at a low price and leaves. Image

Think we even had a thread on this a while back.

Similar seems to happen when the government offers a new bond issue. Announcement of the date, then it all happens in about an hour and it's massively oversubscribed. I don't think the common person can participate independently as they should be able to do, you need to hire a broker with an inside track and pay commission. Pete
