recommendations on Thai authors?

Post by Jimbob »

Any recommendations on Thai authors with books translated to English? I am thinking of work that reflects Thai thinking and views on life. I suppose Salman Rushdie or some of the South American authors like Gabriel García Márquez or Isabel Allende, comes to mind as examples.

No specific author Jimbob but here's a link to Asia Books, Humanities section, as a start. Other categories to browse as well. Post Books owned by Post Publishing (Bangkok Post) used to have some good English titles but now they seem to only offer Thai language books. Pete

PS: Amazon is a place to check out as well. They had many Thai subject titles last time I looked.

I would recommend 'Sightseeing' by Rattawut Lapcharoensap.
A collection of novels with some amusing observations of farangs in Thailand from a thai perspective. You can get it at Amazon if not in the bookshops.

Pira Sudham does it for me, who only writes in English as far as I'm aware and I believe spends much time out of Thailand? Probably why he's still alive.
