East/West of Petchkasem

Post by PeteC »

I realize that far west is not pertinent but what would you say the price differential is for a standard single family or condo, Cha-Am to and including Hua Hin, ocean side of Petchkasem and a few blocks directly west of Petchkasem? 20% or more? Pete

Pete, I don`t think that you can compare values on the criteria that you have stated. Most of the Condo`s, at the least the most attractive ones, are on the ocean side of the road and close to the beach. Most of the newer housing developments are on the west side of the road, and also west of the Railway Line, except those further South.
Comparing Condo`s to stand alone house`s: from what I see you can get a lot more house for the same money, than what you can get with a Condo.

More house for the same money but there is always a tradeoff in Thailand.
You can own the condo in your own name without company expenses (15K a year or more), better security, usually better locations available so some of the price difference is accounted for in those ways.
But a house gives you more space and a garden.
To each his own.
