I'll let the locals recommend a good bank (although this might help http://www.tourismhuahin.com/banking-finance-huahin.php ), but could you please expand on:

Not much to choose between the high street banks Elizabeth really, pretty much all offer the same services/rates/ATM machine availability etc, certainly when it comes to an average bank account, deposit or current. Might be worth shopping around if you are thinking of house buying or loaning large money for something.

Any of them will be alright.

I always use columbusdirect (uk) travel insurance on an annual policy.
I have not come across any restrictions apart from the usual one of not being covered in your country of residence. Most of them insist that you spend at least 6 months in your country of origin to be eligible to take out a policy but these guys dont have that restriction. Never made a claim so cannot vouch how they are in that department

Contact Matt at AA insurance for travel insurance. My wife used it for a trip back to the U.S. and Matt's service was fast, just what we wanted, and very reasonably priced for health insurance covering the U.S.

See advertorial thread at the beginning of this section for contact details.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

In general Thailand is not blacklisted anymore for the European insurance companies.
I'm not sure about your plans. Asking for a bank makes me think you're coming to live here? If that is the fact, you can better choose a proper healthcare insurance.
