Window/door security bars

Post by CDNinKS »

Can anyone tell me if there is a shop in HH that sells the sliding expanding type of window/door security bars?

I went to the stainless shop near the airport and they only do fixed style.

Thanks

This company is in Bangkok but they travel at cost. Product cost is about 1,800 baht per square meter. Pete

Ouch, a friend had them installed a few months ago and the link was working then. We did ours about 2 years back. I think they're still around as they do many things, not just those accordion security barriers. It's a co.th site so maybe just a server problem? Keep trying and I'll ask the wife to check her receipt drawer today to see if she can find their phone number for you. Pete

As you suspected, a Thai server problem most likely as the link works now.

Thanks very much, and I guess you are happy with the results after 2 years?

Yes, care and maintenance free and those on the big doors get opened and closed several times a day. No problems with coating either. I think it's some kind of baked on enamel. Pete

The trouble with all of the security screens I have seen here is that they are simply screwed into the frame of the window. In many cases with 1/2 inch screws which you could yank out with not much effort. Even longer screws are left exposed so give me a cordless driver and I will be in and out before you can boil an egg. Drill the metal frame and the window frame or concrete and use small sections of re-bar set in epoxy. They will then have to either cut the screen or rip out with heavy methods. Unless you have something in the house that "Oceans eleven" are after an alarm system with a long record camera system is better IMO and it prevents the place looking like a prison.

I agree with that and have both, plus dogs and lighting that stays on all night in the garden... seems to work with no bars on doors or windows. As stated on the construction thread, I already feel like I'm living in a concrete bunker; add bars on the doors and windows and you do have a prison... maybe add guard towers at the corners of the walls and some razor wire on top to finish off the feel... :lach:
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

A few carefully positioned claymores on active beam trips (keep the dogs inside!) and Roberts your mothers brother. :thumb:

I hear you, but unfortunately the missus is the one driving this, and as I will not always be here and she will be alone at times, I can't really argue.

As to the "jail" remarks, I agree and that's why I'm after the accordion style, as at least during the day they are retracted and hardly noticeable.

Anyway, thanks Pete for the post. We were able to contact them today and will be sending them the measurements for a quote.

I grew up behind the iron curtain and we were brainwashed to believe it was there to keep the intruders out. I knew something was wrong, so I defected to find out the real purpose was to keep us in!
PS. No offense meant! :D :D :D

To set the record straight as I gave bad info above. The current price is 3,000 Baht per square meter before discounts. Negotiated discounts you can achieve the 2,700-2,800 Baht level. Pete
