MORE BREAK INS MOUNTAIN VILL
MORE BREAK INS MOUNTAIN VILL
Hi
Mods Please move if this is in the wrong forum! I cant find the old link and my time is short!!
We had 4 break ins last night on the estate.
The info I have is sketchy but we believe that all the houses were EMPTY with occupants back in the UK. The external security grills were moved from the rear of premises.
I wonder how long this spate will last??

I guess it all depends on the conditions of the contract and how many days you can leave the property empty.
Also how many claims can you make... This will be limited.
Hopefully most of us can replace stolen items. Its the fact that someone has entered your house in the middle of the night. Who knows what the
consequences may be. We all know that Life is cheap out here and that burglaries do go wrong especially when they are challenged!!
Good security measures such as alarms, grills, lighting, dogs, occupied premises will surely help but no gurarantees. Residents and developers MUST work together and implement stronger security benificial for all. Until that happens its open season for Billy Buglar.

Hi Peter, you could put one of our wireless alarm systems in for 16,000 Baht, special price for HHAD members.pede wrote:Sad to hear about that. Palm from the office told me about it last week. I have house in Mountain Vill too.
What can we do to stop this?
1 year ago i have 3 times some break in my house. Tv, aircon, water pump and more was stell.
Peter
It also allows you to go to bed at night and arm the rest of the house from the remote controller om your key ring, so you don't have to worry about waking up and confronting an intruder creeping about the house. PM me if you want further details.
A Soi 116 project house had a burglar recently carrying a gun

Will be pleased to assist stgrhe, thanks.stgrhe wrote:SJ, when my house construction is close to being finished early next year I will get in touch with you regarding an alarm system for our house. G.
Hi Oz, the siren sounding duration can be set from 1-99 minutes, most people opt to set for just a few minutes as it's loud as hell in the dead of the night with a red flashing light. After the siren has stopped after 'x' minutes the system automatically reverts back to 'armed' state, so if someone can back in the house after hiding behind a wall or something then the siren will go off again.ozuncle wrote:SJ
What happens if an alarm is activated when the occupants are not home? Does a siren scream for hours or maybe weeks if out of the country? Neighbours would not like that.
Do you have a monitoring service where a guard with keys attends?
Thanks
We don't have a central monitoring service, there's been no demand for it. People usually leave one of the arm/disarm remote controllers with a neighbour or estate management/security if they trust them. It also has a phone line connection, so you can set it up to call through an alarm alert to a landline or mobile number if you wish.
As it's a wireless system you can take it from house to house, useful to people who rent. God I'm starting to sound like a salesman now which I've always hated

Cheers,
SJ

Mountain Vill
Hi
I have a property in Mountain Vill. Have not personally had any issues as the house is occupied all the time. We also pay for the police to do drive-bys each evening.
Still, I suggest that as residents, we should approach the developers and request increased security. My wife is good friends with them so I will ask her to speak with them in the first instance.
If any other residents would like to join together and pay something each month for a security guard, please let me know.

Sorry don't want yo hijack the thread, but a quick question about the alarm. Can the sensitivity be set to allow a cat to wander freely around the house and not set off the alarm at night, but obviously go off if humans are around?
Thanks.

the systems SJ uses are pretty common back home. Here they are still rare.
If you have pets you just adjust the PIR sensors so they dont go off when a small furry breaks the beam. Setting the beam to about 4 feet off the ground is a good idea.
They are good systems and scare the crap out of people breaking in....the din is hellish.

Hi Scotian007
I will PM you the Resident Co Ordinator who is pushing for this idea of sharing the costs of security with the Developer.
This is the best outcome for all parties BUT I get the feeling that there is some reluctance by some residents to share this cost. The cost of employing 2 or 3 security men night time would be minimal.
Like yourself my property is always occupied and I have good security measures in place so we have been Ok but no guarantees for the future.
When my place was empty I had a security guy for 5 000 per month and he was there 90 % of the time night time..... no break ins and even fed the dogs!!
I get on well with the developer so I will see if we can strike a deal. No promises and may take time. We had security before and this definently helped. I appreciate things have changed now.
Finally the more people that approach the developer the better to reolve this situation! It may also help if more residents had alarms fitted rather than relying on the Soi dogs as a security deterrant.
