Guest friendly Hotels - Needs to be asked - again!

Hi everyone,
I'm a new boy and must say I'm impressed with the forum, everyone seems friendly and polite and no real slagging off.
There are some classics, i.e. stories of girl experiences. Have I heard these before in different parts of Thailand!
The only information that I cannot find from the many times the following question is asked, is a straightforward answer! There are answers but not with all the information asked for, so I'll try.
It seems a lot of guys are trying to find/ get a list of genuine guest friendly hotels that do not charge and cost in the range of 800 - 2000 bahts. It's easy to find the cost (on agency sites), but helpful, anyway.
The two key things, though are:
Guest friendly
No charge
You guys that have lots of experience of Hua Hin must know quite a lot of place between you. How about telling all you know so that there can be a more or less definitive list posted here. Lots of guys would be most grateful and it would stop the wheel (so as to speak) being re-invented!

Hi Bob. Can't be 100% on this obviously but I would guess that 95% if not ALL of the guesthouses and hotels in this price range will be guest friendly with no extra charge - only problem you might have is at the top range hotels.

This seems too frequent a question - there's plenty info on the forum regarding this but the subject keeps popping up.

Lev, a similar Bangkok site has compiled a list of, what it knows to be, guest friendly hotels in town - how about doing something similar here to cover Hua Hin? Shouldn't be too hard to come up with something..?

You've pretty much got it covered there with the 95%. I'd say all the guesthouses and small hotels are guest friendly. The only ones you may be asked are the big 5 star places, and then you'll probably have to pay a couple of hundred baht and have the 'guest' leave their ID card at reception for security, no big deal.

No need for a list really if you go by those guidelines. Besides how would I check it? Take a girl into each hotel every night for a month?

Thanks for the quick reply. I agree there are lots of postings about this subject, but there still not a definitive list. Maybe I should say why I'm so pedantic about this. A little story of sadness and anger from Pattaya. I told a couple of friends of mine that the vast majority (probably all) of cheaper hotels were guest friendly/ no charge. Oh dear! They stayed at a hotel (separate rooms) some years ago and were asked to pay the same price they had already paid for the room, they refused and were told the girls had to leave. In the morning they complained, only to be told that it was hotel policy. What really galls, of course, that if you have a regular partner (wife even?) book them in at the same time the hotel charges are only slightly more, which I had told them (from my past experience).
So back to the question. I am very sorry if I'm upsetting anyone by being persistent (It's the Yorkshire terrier in me!) and going over old stuff, but just maybe, if there is a list that has regular updated posting, it would sort this out, once and for all (says he hopefully!!!!)

I would imagine most of the non-resident board members would have experience of this and could at least give you the names of their favourite hotels and any experiences they had.
I'm sure it would be fun AND good for buisness!
As for me I've never stayed in a hotel in Hua Hin, sorry.[/u]

While a list of "guest friendly" hotels would be helpful, it would be virtually impossible to compile - I know the hotel I stay in regularly is guest friendly if the guest is mine !!! I know other guys who were charged.

I have also stayed at one of the 5 star hotels and they couldn't be more accomodating - on one occasion the lady was escorted around the back by a staff member and brought to my room - there were a number of "stuffy" guests in the lobby bar who might frown on such activities, hence the cloak & dagger stuff - a great service I thought !!

Not only would you have to compile a list of the hotels but also a list of which receptionists / night porters are on duty !!!!!

It seems there is no solution to this. All points are valid and it seems to be a suck it and see (no pun intended!).
Maybe no-one wants to commit their opinion of a particluar hotel (understandably, because of previous comments), but if you want to, here's the place.

Stayed if a few different hotels in HH, from my own experiences, the only one that was definitely not guest friendly, was the Royal Garden. I would guess that is because they are a “family hotelâ€

Thanks for that. I've heard City Beach is slightly tatty, but in a great position, next to, but not right in the middle/ centre - fair observation?

MGB, it is in a great position, just staggering distance from most of the bars. It is a wee bit tatty and could do with a refurb, but the rooms are a very good size and I have always found it to be hassle free. I’ve stayed there on my trips to HH for the last five years – and will be staying there in just under two week’s time (can’t wait).

I’ll back up the report on the City Beach, when I stayed there last October it was GF, I’d booked a double and made a point of mentioning it when I booked in so that the clerk gave me double breakfast tickets, not that me and the guest ever made it to breakfast . Never even had to show ID and the location is great.

I stayed at the City Beach Hotel in Hua Hin and having pre-paid by credit card I thought checking out would be a breeze as I'd only had one bottle of Coke from the minibar and 2 shirts laundered. When I was presented with a bill of over 1,000 baht I disputed this until the guy mentioned it was for 'lady visitor' in front of other people checking in / out. It was highly embarrassing for me. If they had made this clear when I booked or at least had a discrete notice in the lobby or maybe in the rooms, this could have been avoided."

This sounds 'fairly' UN friendly to me.. and I wouldn't call it 5 star there !!
