Discussion on where to go when the sun goes down in Hua Hin; bars, pubs, clubs, karaoke and general nightlife.

somewhere different

Does anyone know anywhere a little bit different than the usual bars, which realy are quite boring.
Maybe somewhere with a good show, or decent live music. Or maybe a greek restaurant, or any restaurant except the usual european and Thai. Just something different...before I go potty.

Good thinking Big Boy, but don't you think a lot of those 'sit outside with a Leo' type shops have disappeared now? I certainly noticed a few of the old ones had gone last year due to redevelopment, which is a shame.
Maybe Chopper could try a traditional Thai singing bar for a change.
As for food - Greek - forget it. Indians can be good in HH, as can the Scandinavian/German eateries.
Otherwise it's a trip to Bangkok and a very expensive hotel restaurant, or the excellent value Lebanese places. As HHF will confirm theres a lot to be said for the occassional Bangkok escape!

There's still a good one near the train station at the top of the night market road (beside Star Internet).

Right Mags, that's all that keeps me sane! (well, somewhat sane anyway)

Dance Show

Post by Pagey »

Don't know if it's still open as it''s not well advertised but in September when I was there I met a dancer from the New York Theatre Show which is situated between Soi 88 and Soi 94 although didn't get round to going but they did do some promo dances outside the bars down Bintabaht last year. I think the price includes a meal also so it's a full night out. There are leaflets dotted around town about it.

said it before and with the risk of sounding boring,Luknam. Its the best night out for my money in HH. Its fairly cheap too. Thinking back to my birthday,25 of us piled up there and between us got through 9 bottles of 100 pipers with mixers and it still came to under 3000bts.
Now the memories come flooding back! Wish i was there now

Do you have any details on the New York Theatre Show? Have seen a sign on Petchkasim Rd for the place but never found it or seen any info. Thanks!!

Drive up Soi 88 and you will see signs to it.

It is on one of the cut through roads between Soi 88 and 94.

It is hard to find out what is happening there as they neither answer the phone or reply to e-mails and there is only someone there on the nights is it actully open and those nights seem to have become rather rare.

When it first opened it was quite busy but now it seems to be shut most of the time - we drive past on a regular basis as it is a cut through for us.

HHJ : Moja has explained where it is. When you first fo up Soi 88 before the railway line there is a few signs on the fence and one of them has its name and a basic map. Right at the entrance to the small Soi near the Hilton as though you were going to the Chinese temple is a taxi service with his car parked with the hatch open with lots of brochures and maps and he used to have the brochure there.

However as Moja says I am not surprised if it is closed because of poor advertising.

Thanks Moja & Pagey.

I have driven up Soi 88 and spotted the sign for the soi.

I was wondering more of what they did in the Theatre - is it restaurant, show (what type?), bar? Pagey you mention some dancing in your earlier post - is this traditional Thai style?

Thanks again for your help.

HHJ : The girl I know was always reluctant to talk about the show and rehearsals although she wanted me to go and see it. When they did a demo down Bintabaht they handed out leaflets and I am sure a meal was included in the price.

The dancers are male and female and when they did the demo I saw the girls were wearing cheerleader style outfits although she told me they have several changes of costumes.

I found this link with a phone number : http://www.world66.com/member/giorgio/a ... e_and_ente

Not sure if the link will work so copied the details below.

ClosingTime: show start from 8.00 p.m.till 9.00p.m.
tel: 032 526448 032 526449

If you do go or find more details maybe you can post a review ? I will be back in July so can contact one of the dancers then in you still need to know more. :thumb:

Thanks for the further info & link. I go up Soi 88 to Mr Plum's for yoga (recommended - post in Events & Activities section) so will try to detour on Sunday to see if there are ny details outside - doubt if it will be open at 11am but you never know!

Of to UK in a few weeks so if I get there it's going to be after July. Will post report if it's still open!

we drive past most days between 1100 and 1200 and it is never open, the only time we see it open these days is occasionally at night.

If we see it open we will stop and try and get some details. Of course someone in one of the houses nearby might know something.
