Dogs!

Post by Betty_Boop »

Hello! :D

I'm new to the boards and in the early stages of planning a move to Thailand. I have been getting lots of great friendly advice on the introduction board.

One of our big debates is about our dogs and bringing them with us. Has anyone moved out and taken dogs? I can't bear the thought of leaving them behind but am worried about the heat and how the Thai culture deal with dogs and what we would do with them on our border runs?

Any thoughts greatly appreciated!!!

Hi BB and of course, welcome to the forums

Not sure as far as legal requirements are concerned but I'm sure Dawn or someone else will be able to advise on that front.

As far as Thai culture is concerned - dogs are not a problem but as a farang, you'll no doubt keep your dogs in your yard, and be prapared for the fact that it's really not easy taking a dog for a walk over here as there are thousands of unkept ones running about. A relaxing walk essentially becomes a nightmare...........lol

Looking at your previous posts, my advice to you would be that you need not worry too much. In some strange way, everything just tends to work out fine in the end over here, although sometimes it can be frustrating.

We all have our good days and our off days but in the end, it'll be what you make of it.

As far as the heat is concerned - just as with people, they'll soon get used to it. I have a Rotti that was born in Thailand and the heat kills her. On the other hand, I also have a dalmation and she spends hours sleeping in the sun. As far as our goat is concerned...........well she doesn't care either way.........hot or cold, and yes, it can get a little chilly at times.

Final word...............I'm sure you'll both love the experience and hey, you only live once.

Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact

Great advice! Thanks. As far as we're concerned we're raring to go and have all the boxes ticked. The practicalities are to be worked on and the only real decision is the dogs. I guess we'll know more once we've been out again in Novemebr.

Thanks! :D
