What 5 CD's from your current collection...

Post by hhfarang »

As an addition to the "What are people listening to now" thread I thought an interesting question would be (this may include some old classics instead of just new music):

What are your favorite 5 CD albums from your collection? Forget You tube, mp3's etc. My question is... If you knew you were going to be stranded on a deserted island for a month and you could only take 5 commercial CD albums from your current collection along with your solar powered CD player... what would those albums be?

I've been thinking a lot about this and it's difficult to narrow it down to 5 so I think it will be interesting to hear your answers while I am still making up my mind.

Checker, you really are an Elvis fan. I'm from the "Home of the King" and I like him too! If you ever come to Hua Hin bring some of your collection as I'd love to hear it!

Still thinking about mine... I was tempted to pick my 5 favorite Jimmy Buffet albums (like your Elvis albums) but I think I would need some variety if it was the only thing I had to listen to for a month.

Wow Lindosfan,

Now you've given me some research to do. I probably haven't bought a CD in this century  :D and I don't recognize any of those artists (except J.J. Cale and Chris Rhea both sound vaguely familiar).

I will definitely have to look them up and see what they do!

Randy and Bubbly,

Very eclectic choices with a kind of variety I expected... some great music there too but I don't know Tenacious D!

Redzone,

Just what I expected from you... some great rock!

Still narrowing mine down...

Throwing out the last 3 to get it down to 5 was painful, but here's my choices:

Bryan Adams - So Far So Good
Eric Clapton - Unplugged
Meat Loaf - Bat Out of Hell
Police - Singles - Every Breath You Take
Thirty Eight Special - Rock and Roll Strategy

(also rans or honorable mentions - Jimmy Buffet, Son of a Son of a Sailor - Moody Blues, Other Side of Life - Dr. Hook, Greatest Hits (and more) - Little Feat, Let it Roll and many many more)

This was harder than I thought. Guess I should have made it 10 albums! :thumb:

Ok...it was tough but here goes:

God Machine - Scenes from the Second Storey

Thin Lizzy - Vagabonds, Kings, Warriors, Angels.

Eliades Ochoa - Tribute to the Cuarteto Patria

Masters of Reality - Masters of Reality 1 (aka The Blue Garden)

Nigel Kennedy - Vivaldi : Four Seasons

I'd try and cheat and smuggle out

Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy - Hypocrisy is the Greatest Luxury

and

Levellers - Leveling The Land.
