Comments below the article aside as they're on a different subject that has been covered on this forum already ...

From a Thai business point of view yes its is quite common that when the trade is slow the prices go up.

"Less customers so we'll make the few that do come pay more to make up for it." Thai logic I guess!

In the article there is a photo of a signboard displaying a pricing scheme that charges 10 Baht for Thais and 30 Baht for foreigners. Wherever that was it seems like good value compared to Hua Hin's Grand Hotel Muay Thai ticket prices:

Thais 70 Baht
Foreigners 700 Baht

Sweet pickled buffalo feet
Randy, Is that another one of those famous British delicacies? I'll have to check with Hua Hin Ham and Bacon to see if they have that one! :D

Hua Hin has become home to a number of plastic gangsters who are unwelcome in their own countries

Sorry, but, the very brief first paragraph aside, that's a pretty daft topic title when the link just references a persons experiences about the price of a coffee !
Quite how that ties into Gangsters place for Expats somewhat stretches the imagination a touch.

I would say that HH is probably got a fair few plastic gangsters and boozy bullshitters to have a laugh with but that's really as far as it goes :D

Well, he or she was speaking more metaphorically with the coffee comparison.

Maybe true, maybe Hua Hin has become a rougher place. The quoted site is usually quite credible without exaggerating ...

But agree, my title is unlucky.

Hua Hin is the safest place I've ever lived in, yeah it's getting a bit rougher pi$$ed up idiot wise, but that goes with an ever increasing town. We've had a tragic incident recently in which we wish the family the best.
Some of these other sites where 2 or 3 sad people post under numerous alias' claiming Hua Hin is now a gangster town are desperate, I can't even laugh at it when I read it anymore.
Those of us that live here happily know fact from fiction.

Agree with the above, there are a couple of undesirables or 'plastic gangstas' in town but if you do your research and talk to some local people and expats they're easily pointed out and avoided - Hua Hin is a very small town.

The new PM seems to think that there is gangster activity in Hua Hin or is this just hearsay ?

I've only heard of one incident in 5 years (the current one) that could possibly fall under this catagory.
