Paul Newman

Paul Newman dead at 83 from cancer.
Perhaps the best actor to not win an Oscar. So many memorable roles and a man of integrity in real life.

Yeah, sad loss. But I thought he had a few Oscars (I haven't checked)? But really, how much is that valued over a life time?

He was of that era when actors seemed to have a real presence. With the odd exception (De Niro? Pacino?) that doesn't apply now. Maybe a good thing?

I always loved that quote of his when asked about Hollywood infidelity:

And don't forget the Caesar salad dressing.

He must have been one of the last film stars. They're all actors now.

Strange coincidence is that I watched Exodus a couple of days ago for the first time in my life.

Fairly non PC nowadays as it depicts a bunch of terrorists as heroes but Newman must have been playing one of his first leading roles. He looked to be under 40. That's the only film I have ever seen with him so young.

He stayed married to the same T-Bone throughout his career I believe.
