more news about bars moving

Post by lomuamart »

I've heard from a couple of people that there was a recent meeting of bar owners, police etc, when the police said that all bars around Bintabart would either have to close at midnight or move to "the hills" over the railway line behind The Grand Hotel. If bars moved, they could stay open until 2am.
This has been the subject of debate on an annual basis for as many years as I can remember.
Does anyone have any more information about this?

Bars closing early in hua hin?

Post by buksida »

I know no more than you but this rumour has been going on for as many years as I've been here. Move the bars away from the temple was the first concern, then the Hilton makes a fuss because they're ruining the "upper class image" it has ... "our guests are far too prim and proper to see that kind of sleaze"

Now its the cops, someone upstairs is putting pressure on the new boy in town to clean it up just like the rest of the country. Can you see the logic? Move the bars AWAY from the center of town and INTO a residential area, now is it just me or shouldn't this be the other way round?

I have always been able to drink until whatever hour my liver waves the white flag and I'm forced to try and remember where I live in Hua Hin. I don't see this changing for a while. All I can see is what always happens here ... the fines, bribes and penalties will just get bigger and business will carry on as usual.

Couldn't agree more, Buksida.
To move these bars out of town just makes no sense. Certainly if I were a bar owner in the vicinity, I'd open earlier and close at midnight (if that's the way it goes). The lost revenue from midnight to 2am would be nothing, compared to what it potentially would be, if the establishment were miles away. OK, ex-pats might visit, but I don't think there'd be much "passing trade".
Again, another example of the moral MINORITY trying to turn this town into something akin to Royal Tonbridge Wells. :guns: :guns:

A POINT TO ADD!!!

A POINT TO ADD!!!
there are no moral minded majorty or minority just serious double standards and underhanded business Tactics
Is the Hilton breaking the law by staying open untill 2 am ??
as far as we are aware All bars, entertainment venues are required to close at 1 am by law REGARDLESS of area unless zoned a area for late night entertainment
surley ther be some under the table activity a foot here
it may well be possible the aledged 5xxxx per calender month being paid to the people with power is true(there was avery large pleasure boat moored out side a certain new law enforcement office for many weeks)
As for the sleaze in hua hin the hilton is the number one instigator and promoter for the nocternal flesh trade
surley they have some serious double standards they need to aproach before they accuse any bar owners of promoting sleaze
maybe they could comment about their venue having special privelidges
as well as why they have the worst bands EVER playing mindless drivel the worst Dj ever in the world
the highest drink prices in town
and the most (carfully worded) ladies of the night looking for custom
they may well coment "we are always busy" ,this is due to string pulling and unfair trading by forcing the small bar competion out of the picture
and there are no alternatives allowed in the town center I WONDER WHY??
if the hilton had even a small competitor they would be out of business within a month or less
so before the hilton starts to class the bintabann as sleazy you need to look in your own front doors and see just how many sex tourists are frequenting your establishment
you certainly have the most

SLEAZY AND CHEESY REPUTATION IN TOWN
in fact you couldnt get any lower class than you are already at!

SOME COMMENT FROM THE HILTON WOULD BE MORE THAN WELCOME
but i doubt they will due to the truth being known by all

Dr Dave,
Very succinctly put. I reckon you'll find that you're not the only one that views The Hilton this way.
As has been said on this board before, vote with your feet. Just don't go there. I certainly never do now and, more to the point, definitely do not recommend it to anyone I meet.
I've heard no more about the bars. Yet again a lot of hot air etc. It's a perennial problem, like the beach front between the said hotel and the fishing pier.
To hell with them. :guns:

I HAVE NOT FREQUENTED THIS DEN OF DEPRAVITY AND SLEAZE
FOR 18 MONTHS IVE BEEN IN HUA HIN LESS THAN TWO YEARS
IF THIS WAS THE ONLY PLACE TO BUY A BEER I WOULD GIVE UP DRINKING WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT !!!
INFACT ULEADED FUEL WOULD BE A BETTER OPTION THAN EVEN TREADING ON THE DOORSTEP OF THE HILTONS BREWHOUSE

Hilton

Post by Randy Cornhole »

Damm that bloody place!! The hilton (I will henceforth use the lower case h to show my distain) is the most boring crap hole of a place iv'e been to in Hua Hin.
Only problem is my girlfriend loves the place, give me strength!
It's funny how they can close at 2.00 and the bars behind seem to be able to please themselves when they close, but not when you think the hilton and the bars behind are run or have strong Thai connections. All the bars in soi bb are run by Ferang.
The Thais want their cake and to eat it, they are generally too lazy to work themselves, so we run the bars for them and god forbid we make any money oh no you must close at 1.00 so all the people will go to the hilton and pay stupid money for beer we can't have any Ferang making any money!!
Sod the hilton i say :guns: :guns:
