Hua Hin Zoo Animal Park (Mini-Zoo)

Post by Super Joe »

Anyone been ? There's a bit about it here on 'Expat Hua Hin', never heard about it before. Did a search on here but couldn't find any threads.

Does anyone know if it's still up and running, it looks quite small but worth taking the kid and dropping off the wife.

Do they have a lot of the animals and birds locked up in small cages like many of the places here do?

That place in Thonburi where the longtails all stop when doing a river/canal trip is disgusting, and has been for decades. Pete :(

Sadly yes, there were a couple of bears in cages too small and the monkeys didn't look too pleased either.

They do have some free roaming areas though and the bird averys are huge.

Thanks, I'll take a trip there with the noisy little screaming ankle-biter and my 15 month year old, take some pics and report back.

Maybe I'll take our welder with us and fix em up a new cage!! You'd like to give a donation at these places but bet it would get spent on Leo.

Cheers,

Haven't been yet Martin, kids only 16 months so probably still too young to appreciate it. Will go in next 6 months or so and report back with some pics.

We go up there for an afternoon every now and again,
take the girls with us cos they love to see the monkeys doing their
trapeze acts for us...and the noise they make...!!
Peaceful place tho' cant hear traffic, nobody selling watches or offering a massage, yes the bears need a bigger cage, but its still free to get in,
(good for Yorkshire folk that is) and great for just moochin around.

I go to the zoo quite a lot its more like a park with animals than a zoo though. Its mostley quiet and I like to feed the animals. I do hate the way I have seen the thai boys tease the animals. Take a look in the moat around the gibbons throw in some bird food the fish are amazing

Here's some pics from our visist. It's about 10 mins drive past entrance to Springfield Golf Course. Some of the animals look sad, as I think Buski or someone previously commented, but not sure if thats due to the suffering they were subjected to before these people took them over.
It's farang run and more of a rehabilitation centre than a mini-zoo. Worth a visit IMO, especially if you have kids, you can get up real close the the animals.
Free to get in but they rely on donations, don't expect a western style facility, but though cages/pens were a fair size.
Apart from pics they had hethalumps, birds, a tiger, a batch of pythons was due that day but was late.

Does anyone know the operating days/hours for the zoo?
The nephew is visiting and we are thinking about taking him soon.

Nice place to visit

Post by Chas »

We have been a couple of times and really enjoy this zoo. It is very low key, usually uncrowded with other visitors ( never been on a holiday weekend) no English signs or names on the cages, nothing like a typical Western ZOO experience but very enjoyable in its own way. It is more like a park with animal cages and exhibits scattered here and there. Food is very limited so a picnic lunch might be a good idea.
