I’m impressed with the number of gold medals that the UK has won in events that you do sitting down.
We seem to dominating these sports of cycling, rowing and sailing; it must be all the practice we get sitting in the pub and watching Coronation Street on TV.

I'm all for it, as long as it adds to our tally!

Beijing Olympics

Mr.Plum, why be so sneering about the two successful girl swimmers from the UK. This was not a beauty contest, and at 19 the double gold medal winner did a brilliant job. It`s very easy to sit on your arse and take the piss. Just be proud of what the Brits have achieved so far.

Arcadian. Why be so defensive over people you have never met? This is not a politically correct contest and I'm sure they do not need a white knight to come to their rescue. As for being proud. There is little about Britain these days to be proud of. That's why I'm in Thailand.

I have deleted the comment and promise I shall work on No.11.

ps. There is an offensive Irish Joke in this thread. Over to you.

Mr.Plum, I agree there is little to be proud of in Britain these days so why not take whatever there is. I am not being defensive about people I have never met, I just admire their dedication. But your logic suggests that we can only comment about people we know. If that were the case your posts would probably trickle away to next to none at all. However, reading between the lines of some of your other posts I am sure you will come back so you can have the last word!

Mr.P, I`m disappointed, I thought your debating skills went further than "yah boo". But , yes Ben Ainslie deserves his third gold medal, as do all the medal winners as a result of hard work and dedication, unlike us oldies who prefer to sit around in the sun and hurl mild abuse at one another!

in the Mens 100 Meter dash a new World Record as been run. The jamaican Usuaine Bolt ran a friggin fast 9.69 seconds !!!
just how much more would he have taken off the world record if he hadn't posed & postured over the last 30 metres??
I read somewhere recently that he may have done this so he could break the record again on the Grand Prix circuit and get paid handsomely for doing so. Tsk, some people are sooooo cynical...
This is the way

almost a conspiracy :D but fair enough though :thumb:
i keep watching the race, trying to decipher how much more he would have taken off the record. i think it would have been quite a large slice

Hu there guys

Usain "Lightning" Bolt from Jamaika has done it again. After beating The world Record in 100 Meter Dash with the time of 9.69 Secondm he has now broken another World Record set by MIcheal Johnson in 1996 in the 200 Meter Dash with hte time of 19.32 Seconds.
But Bolt beat that record by runnig f***ing 19.30 Second skimming off 2 hundreds of a second!
Germanies Top 100 Meter Sprinter Tobias Unger called Bolts performance "a Giant piss Take" and indirectly accused him of taking forbidden substances. During an Interwiev with Germanie sports paper "Sport Bild" Unger said: "During the Trailruns Bolt hadn't even run himself warm." He has practiced merely for starts and sigle trial run with the Time of 9.97 seconds. What astsunds the German sprinter was Bolts consistancy throughtout the Season "He (Bolt( shows no sign of weakness or fetigue during Training. They ca do whatever they like overthere on their Island and nothing(no Doping contrils) happen to them." Unger added " I have to sign myslef in and out several Times during these Olympics just in case we have a Doping control." "But Bolft doesn't even know how to fill out a Document." "Im slowly getting fed up with this@"

Answer me this one question please?
Dwain Chambers gets tested positive for drugs, banned for two years. Comes back and is unable to compete due to an British olympic ruling. Fair enough those are the rules.
Christine Ohuruogu fails to take 3 drug tests and as a result is found guilty and banned for two years. (the same ammount of time a Dwain Chambers) She comes back and is allowed to run?
If you fail to take a drugs test then you are charged as if you are guilty, hence the two year ban she received.
There is something wrong here in my book.
What they are saying is that if Dwain Chambers had not bothered to take his drug tests he would still have been banned for two years but would have been able to run in the Olympics!!!
You cant have one rule for one and another rule for another...
