Great, I love this stuff, meaning the accents. Still a few missing; the Brummies obviously but what do you call the North-Westerners, the Lancs, and the Notts, Lincs and so on?

What about us Cockneys. I was born in lambeth and so according to the statement below I am in the catchment area. The Lambeth walk and pearly people are as common as muck. Alwight son...

According to traditional definition, a "true" Cockney is someone born within earshot of the Bow Bells, i.e. the bells of St. Mary-le-Bow church in Cheapside in the City of London (which is not itself in the East End). It includes the City, Clerkenwell, Finsbury, Shoreditch, Hoxton, Stepney, Bethnal Green, Limehouse, Mile End, Wapping, Whitechapel, Shadwell, Bermondsey, Rotherhithe, Surrey Quays and The Borough, although according to the legend of Dick Whittington the bells could also be heard from as far away as Highgate. The association with Cockney and the East End in the public imagination may be due to many people assuming that Bow Bells are to be found in the district of Bow, rather than the lesser known St Mary-le-Bow church.

Bamboo Grove - that link is brilliant, and closer to the truth than those not priveleged to have been born in G's own county will understand. (And rightly so - we keep usselves to usselves, fluds an orl.)
The Sheffield one is SO TRUE. All roads there DO go uphill. But it is actually the Peoples Republic of South Yorkshire.
Meanwhile Leeds has only really become classy since Harvey Nicks opened there. :lach:

Aye Ian - got the distinct impression that the author came from Halifax.
BTW BG - there was no mention of Sheffields clear equality policy on taxi drivers. They are all required to wear turbans these days :duck:

This is put in place to aid the capture of Bombay Ducks. The birds are caught and wrapped in a piece of cloth which is wound around the head to form a turban. They can be vicious little buggers and have been known to bite their captors even after three trips through the mangle.
