Hi there rabertron
Hua Hin is so much the opposite form Pattaya sleezewise you had probably seeing it reeking and oosing out of them smallest cracks there all over the place. As far as Phuket is concerned I haven't been there in a few millenia but speaking from my previous trip overthere It's not anywhere near as sleezy as Pattaya that's for sure.
Ahhh yeah now Hua Hin is the Riviera of Thailand with a certain amount of sleeze that is well contained. with the influx of the Hi So estblishment on Weekends gives it the Thai Fair that makes it so uniwue. Hua Hin has a Beach allright but not as beautiful as in pther places in Thailand but its a LOOOONG Beach which you can jog over right to Kao Takiap to have a nice workout.
From Hua Hin to Pattaya roughly 5 and a half hours (excluding Traffic )
condidtionn)
From Hua Hin to Phuket roughly eight hoursn flat.

What's this now, a geography lesson. Yes Phuket is bigger than than Nua Hin but it is a province with many towns none of which are anything like the size of Hua Hin. Hua Hin has at least 300 bars (ask the guys who supply the beer).johnnyk wrote: 60-70 bars vs. 2000+...pretty close!
I think the OP wanted an idea of what Hua Hin was like.
Point taken about Pole dancing but that is one soi in the whole province. There is no pole dancing in Hua Hin but there are plenty of other forms of sleaze behind closed doors. Hua Hin is more than just Bintabaht, Selakarm and Poolsuk.
As for distance and size. Pattaya (Pop 117,000 inc Naklua and Ban Lamung) is larger by far than Hua Hin and about 150 KM south east of Bangkok. Hua Hin is much smaller (pop 47,000) but growing more rapidly and is 200 KM south west of Bangkok.
Phuket (pop 500,000) is an Island province with about ten resort towns and villages and the provincial capital and is about 800KM south west of Bangkok. Not easy to compare really and these population figure are probably obtained from census records which will not include foreigners or Thai who live and work in regions but are registered elsewhere. In all three cases that must account for a large number on top of the official figures.
PS Joe is right about the cross gulf ferry. Hua Hin to Pattaya is then only 110 KM.
Geography lesson over.
So I would still maintain that Hua Hin is a smaller less vibrant and sleazy version of Pattaya and bears little similarity to anywhere in Phuket except maybe Patong.

Hey guys, from what ive heard you say about hua hin, it dosent seem like the place for me. Ive heard from other people and then a few times on this board that it has mostly ugly women, im quite young 22 my first trip i came to do muay thai and fell in love with the place. So i got home and booked my return 1 week later. However as a few have said, hua hin seems to be for the more ummm senior men, i think ill try pattaya and if i dont like it, ill get a flight to patong. I loved it there.
Thanks for the input.

mate you said in your post you are 22.....if nowt else that comment quoted shows your age...(not the comment you are 22).it has mostly ugly women
y see....when y get beyond the "whorehouse Thailand" y realise that quality is better than quantity, and that beauty is in the eye of the beholder....Pattaya and Patpong (which is a DISTRICT of Bangkok not a place in itself) will be right up your street mate.
at 22 I would recommend Patayya and all its ills,,, you will have a laugh and probably get a whole bunch of impressions (it seems y mates share). Go ahead......thats it.....HH is just for us senoir blokes.......who incidentally may have a truck load more travelling ( and whoring) experience that you at 22.
have a laugh
and when y grow up a bit come here
we reccd some of the best beaches y will come across, and some of the most laid back nightlife .... some of the best lasses.....
you seem like a Pattaya man t me.
Feel free.....ignore what has been said. After all....whats our experience compared to what sounds like sound advice from y Andalucia traveller mates....
Enjoy the hardcore prostitution hell that is Pattaya. Next time out maybe St Petersburg...that place is mostly Maifya run so you will feel right at home after Pattaya...or maybe Cambodia.....
y dick:twisted:
to the rest of HHAD im sorry but (the quote above) this is just stupid and offensive ~ my 18 year old nephew back in Blighty would know better than to say that.

HHS again another post hijacked by your real estate wows, is there no end to what this guy will go to.There is no sleeze in Hua Hin. Trust me. A few ladies in some bars willing to play pool with you and a few lady massage willing to give you a happy.
But no sleeze......
except in the property market and that could be rated an 8 or 9

Sure thing and probably most countries in the world. Tehran was an eye opener.johnnyk wrote:sleaze, as some call it, is in every burg in Thailand.
In pattaya it is industrial scale, pretty much the whole town is devoted to vice.
thanks for the lesson guess, but i had already passed with honours!
I am sure you were aware of the geography but not so with all.
Patong Phuket. Patpong Bangkok.
Rabetron, if it's pole dancers you want why not take a trip to Warsaw. Makes Patong look like Disneyworld.
It seems I am wrong about Patong judging by others response. I have been there many times and only remember sleaze in Bangla Road. There is obviously much more to it than I have seen. I would consider I have been lucky.
I think "more senior" is really more sensible in this dialogue. We're all in our thirties here.

Ah sandman, thanks for your reply. I like how you have taken time out from - Edited by Moderator - to come on her and isolate yourself further from another hhad member. If you wernt such an idiot you would realise im going by what others have said, i havent been there so obviously can't count on my own experiences of the place.
From what i do know though, as others have said on here it seems to suit an older generation, and from my experiences i know that the older men dont care so much about looks but more experience and how well they get on with the girl. This would fit in with what ive been told.
As for your idiotic remarks, about me thinking thailand is a whorehouse. Here is some more information for you, I WENT TO THAILAND FOR MUAY THAI, i didn't pay for sex once, i met a thai girl who o stayed with for the month i was there and no money exchanged hands. The fact you have the balls to suggest i think of thailand as a whorehouse when - Edited by Moderator - is a joke. And if you would actually read my original post, i didnt want to go to pattaya because it has to much sleeze, i dont want to be pestered walking down the street, which is what happens when you are loh mak mak and more importantly na lak mak mak.
I do appreciate your superior knowledge of thailand, yes you have travelled and mongered more than me (is that something to be proud off?) But in all your travelling you still can't tell the difference between patong (phuket) and patpong(bangkok) that even a "noob" like me can do.
As you say, i may have some growing up to do, but some questions have to be asked about a senior man such as yourself who spends his whole life arguing with people on an internet forum, i asked for advice not for people to look down their nose at me - Edited by Moderator -
As for your boast, i doubt you have some of the beast beaches i could come across, id say they all come a distant second to ni harn beach, but hey what would i know. I wouldn't know about the lasses, but its what people who have been to hua hin said that the ratio of ugly girls is more than any other part of thailand.
On your other points, i wont ignore the advice, i will however ignore yours - Edited by Moderator -
To end, i think its great that you are so against prostitution, - Edited by Moderator - You are such a hypocrite its not even funny.
But thanks for your post and im sorry my thread gave you another opportinity to show what appears to be a board of decent honest men who like to give people advice - Edited by Moderator - But i guess its always a good thing to be yourself
- Edited by Moderator -
To all HHAD members im sorry for the long and offensive post, but that guy is a bit of a joke to be honest and id understand if you want to delete this post, but all i ask is that you leave it around long enough for him to read it,
Thanks.

Bangkok is good for nightclubs for young folks like yourself. It also has plenty cinemas, shopping etc. Take a cruise for 10 baht up the river and walk over to Kho San Road. I'm sure you'll have plenty of stuff to do there. Yes Hua Hin mainly appeals to older men but you can still enjoy yourself, particularly if you like pool or golf! Why not get a bus or train down to Hua Hin and if you don't like it carry on down to Phuket? There are plenty of places to stay in the centre of Hua Hin for under 1,000 thb per night.rabertron wrote:5 Hours is quite along time. I thought mabye one or two hours at most. Do people usually fly between hua hin and pattay or bangkok and hua hin?
I dont want to go out in bangkok, it seems overly expensive and from what i can see the two areas of nana and soi cowboy are tiny and nana is contained to one three story building. Plus i heard patpong is a rip off.
If i was to go to hua hin id want to stay close to the action, i.e walking distance. i dont like the idea of taxis back and forward.
Thanks for the reply
