Mrs S says another election.....who knows...... I think this time they are electing the mayor's dog's personal assistant's assistant or something.....and its obviously essential to stop all HH drinking so the 800 or so electorate of HH can vote......if they can be bothered that is.....

...making any sense yet?

No?

Paton Crawler

During my recent visit to HH (Feb/March 08) there were two consecutive weekends when the bars were closed for election purposes.

That said, I was able to purchase drinks at outlets where they were serving food so it was (is?) possible to have a beer or wine or two during the 'ban'.

A friend of mine was in HH last weekend when I believe there was a ban in force - he said he went to a bar/pub which was serving food and providing you ordered ONE chip you could drink as much as you wished. :thumb:

I guess where there's a will .......

I'm sure you'll survive!!

I think Jockey is refering to the amount of times the watering holes get shut down in Thailand. It's criminal!   :thumb:

Just come back from Sai Noi beach. At first they were reluctant to serve us a beer, but they relented and despite one copper being nosey for a bit, the bottles were hidden and we were just stupid farangs anyway.
I can understand bar owners' gripes about the number of days they've had to close this year.
The laws are the laws, but when Thai run places open with impunity and the farang/tourist places get shut down, there's something seriously wrong.
After the fishing fleet moved away years ago, what does HH survive on? Pineapples and tourism. Not necessarily in that order.

Just come back from our evening meal. They were serving Farangs with beer, but how demeaning :? They were serving Singha wrapped in beer condoms, but it had to be hidden on the floor. Permission had to be sought from the waiting staff every time they wanted their glasses topped up, and glasses had to be hidden amongst the condiments.

I'm glad that I stuck to water - what an insult :cuss:

Still TIT, and as lomu says, "The laws are the laws."

For once I'm actually glad I'm in Luxembourg; it's a nice sunny day and there is a sort of bank holiday weekend outdoor lager frenzy in progress!
