The second time I did it on my own.

This picture is priceless! And I would not rule the girls out as eventual winners either! ( notice they seem to be passing the racers)

thats nice to hear sarge, encouraging for the rest of us that you've been together so long, respect mate

i'm similar to you, but i sum it up in 4 words:
tolerance, patience, integration, family values, understanding culture, compromise, air con and respect

Tell you what. The best bit of advice I got 10 years ago was to remain calm (and that includes integrating).
Never followed it though

Make some Thai friends (a girlfriend/boyfriend can open many doors), learn some Thai, get out of the falang ghettoes, go upcountry, buy a Thai a drink when you're in a club or cafe.
Be proactive, its amazing how many good things can happen if you make the first move and not be a suspicious, stand-offish falang.

sooper joe sorry i wasnt as specific as i should have been that should be 23 years and 2 thai wives agreed they do overlap a tad 10 years but i only married the latest at christmas and you can still see the 2 grooves in the road up to the Amphur my heels made   :D :D :D

Just one other thing i will add to this thread just in case edwinadanish is having a sneek peek either
1. buy one
2. steal one
3. barter one
4. borrow one
5. grow one
6. develope one

a sense of humour absolutely 1000% essential to handle life here :lach: :lach: :lach:

I was going to put this in my other post but i feel it deserves a seperate post
One piece of advice given somewhere in this thread was We should lead by example
all i will say is thank god the thais arent taking any notice god forbid just the thought of 16 stone 150 kilo thai women walking down the high street in Bikinis is enough to put me off me dinner its bad enough with the repulsive falangs that are leading by example    :D :D :D

Life in Thailand can sometimes be difficult and frustrating.
Asian countries are extremely isolationist when compared to the rest of the world and Thailand (imho) seems to be digging itself deeper into a third world hole, which i think is sad to say the least.
