Chang, Heineken, Tiger or Singha

Post by margaretcarnes »

IMO best found in LOS was the proper Budva, but only seen it in Chatuchak.
Can't imagine getting decent San Miguel there.
Erdinger good, but my vote has to go to Leo as well. Can we vote for it Pleeeese?
Seeing as how theres not a snowball in hells chance of ever getting John Smiths stout.....

Leo for me too as an everyday tipple. I recall it used to be cheaper than Chang, but no longer - why's that?

Tiger's a good drink if you can find the original from Singapore and not the stuff brewed in LOS or China (as we now get in the UK).

I had a beer Lao in Bkk, it was okay, can't say it was outstanding, but what freezing cold beers are? But it was nice enough and something I would drink if more readily available.

Singha's not the beer it was since going to 5%, or can you still get the 6% version?

Chang in Thailand, Beer Lao in Laos, Kingfisher in India and Tiger anywhere when the above are not available.

VS

(Oh, and Adnams in Suffolk and Earl Soham Victoria in Framlingham - and Aspall Cider anyplace, anytime, anywhere...)

The weakening of Singha and the price rise of Leo were part of the same marketing drive to out Leo at the top and strengthening Singha Sales worldwide in view of the push of Chang into foreign markets. Strong beers are not so popular as they used to be. Thai (ไท) beer is hardly seen and Red Horse has finished.

The change workd for Thailand and Leo has now overtaken Chang as the number one seller in Thailand. Singha sales have also increased.

Chang have addressed the weaker beer market with Chang Light and Chang Draft, both sold in bottles. Chang remains the same strength but maytbe not for long.

The price of Leo overtook Chang when they introduced the small bottles.

I was in London last week at a Thai festival and a certain Mr Bing from the family that own Singa was there. In his talk he stated that Singa was brewed using German technology and equipment, but using Thai water....

That must have been Trafalger Square then? I missed that to go to one down at Dorking the week before, which brings me to the beer stalls there. One for Singha and Chang apiece - 2gbp a can or 3 for 5gbp - but the 3rd beer stall was a new one to me - Siam Gold - anyone ever come across it? It may be just for the UK market as it just said brewed in Thailand but not who by, although I've not seen it anywhere else. Tasted like gnats p**s by the way!
