new year in hua hin

first of all great site .
have any of you lucky people spent new years eve in hua hin and if so where are the good places to go bearing in mind the wife and i are in our late fifties , we dont want to sit in a corner all night sipping lemonade shandy.
also any imfo on the palu-u guest house would be very welcome as we are booked in for six nights commencing 29/12/03<ie location to beach, market . town centre, ect. ect. this will be our first trip to thailand and we are looking forward very much ,

Rich, welcome to the board.
In previous years the powers that be let places stay open till the wee hours of the morning. Best bet for good entertainment, live music etc is the Hilton. Stayed open until 6am last year. Also theres Rockestra II, another live music venue with good food a few K's out of town. No experience with the guesthouse you mention, maybe someone else here can advise. Hope you enjoy your stay.
