Employment in HH

Post by chalvy »

Hi Everyone,

We'll be moving down to HH around the end of Jan and my Fiance will have to quit her job up here in BKK and start afresh down there. Of course, this is causing her no end of anxiety and nervousness--- Moving to a new place with no friends is difficult enough as I'm sure you will all agree. So my question is this-- Are there any employment agencies or other services down there to either act on her behalf or provide her with info on the best way to get a job? She understands that she won't be able to get the salary she gets up here ( 30K/m) and may have to accept a less challenging role. She is well educated with a Bachelors Degree in Economics and is keen to get a start in either the resort or travel industries.
Any info on the current job market would be most appreciated.

Is she Thai or farang? As you can appreciate, it is far easier to get a legitimate job if Thai. Many companies don't have the requisite financial assets to employ farang & others don't want the hassle of having to sort out WP's etc. Also, many high end hotel jobs are "in company".

If she's Thai, I think she'll find a job very easily.
Whether Thai or farang, I don't know of any employment agencies (though someone else might). She could try looking in the BKK Post, or contacting resorts etc on spec.

Sorry, forgot to mention that she is Thai. I'm sure it will not be a big problem for her once she is there, she is quite good at doing her research etc. She is, however, quite nervous at maybe having to resort to "door to door" and showing up at any old place with her resume in hand. Might be an opportunity for a business there? Employment Agency?
We'll see how it goes I suppose.
